providing patient, equipment and linen transportation throughout the hospital and medical office buildings. Assists in training and overseeing employees and assures that employees have the equipment and supplies they need to perform their tasks. Assist Supervisor with the responsibility for proper functioning of the Transport Department.
Essential Functions:
Assumes shift responsibility in the absence of the Supervisor. Cover any leader's absences or vacation must be flexible for the need of the hospital. Fully responsible for the Voalte Phones.
Coordinates trainings for new and existing employees on departmental practices, policies, and procedures.
Observes employees as they work, identifies, and communicates practices needing improvement and retrains accordingly.
Identifies and/or responds to customer needs in a timely fashion. Communications all issues to Supervisor.
Provides recommendations to the Supervisor on staffing needs.
Ensures productivity requirements are achieved.
Always ensures JCAHO preparedness.
Transports patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, escort, or other means to various areas within the hospital and Medical Office Buildings.
Assists hospital staff with movement of patients on/off stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds.
Transports deceased to morgue.
Transports equipment, a variety of Linen, patient belongings, medical records, specimens, linen to and from hospital areas and the Medical Office Bldgs.
Attaches/detaches and checks oxygen gauges and associated tubing to provide oxygen supply to patient during transportation.
Retrieves, decontaminates, and performs maintenance on reusable equipment between patient use according to established procedures. Makes sure equipment is operating properly.
Ensures that all equipment (both office and patient) is clean, safe, and is properly tagged or labeled.
Maintains adequate and accurate records which monitors the operation and effectiveness of equipment.
Generates charges for Linen, equipment, and services as appropriate.
Retrieves, documents, and delivers linen to the units, and utilizing computer applications to locate and obtain par levels.
Communicates pertinent information about the servicing of areas to appropriate personnel as necessary.
Maintains confidentiality of information related to individual patients and patient care units.

Experience

Responsibilities:
Safely transports patients, visitors and employees. Transports a variety of items including equipment, supplies, records, labs, and other items. May assist with obtaining basic patient demographic and consent information. Ensures documentation and paperwork are reviewed for completeness. For patient transport, assists patients entering/exiting vehicles including wheelchair or stretcher transfers. Assists with maintenance of transport vehicle and equipment. Supports urgent transportation needs. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED.
Required Licensure/Certification: Valid driver's license required. Signed System Driver Agreement required. If establishing residency, must acquire Colorado driver's license within 30 days pursuant to Colorado state law.
Minimum Experience: None required.
The pay range for this position is: $18.54 - $24.10 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
