Essential Work Functions:

Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses

Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists, and social workers, to create and implement individualized care plans
Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use
Advocate for patients' needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan
Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home

We're looking for Progressive Care Unit RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Kennewick, WA. The right RN should have 1-2 years recent acute care experience. Read below for more requirements. As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but aren't unstable enough to need ICU care. Progressive Care Unit RNs will utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detecting any changes and thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive a significant amount of complex medications, sometimes through an intravenous line that may need to be adjusted or titrated. The PCU RN is sometimes also called a step-down nurse, and the PCU is also known as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown and ER holding.
As a PCU Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
PCU Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. Because of the fast-paced environment, Progressive Care Unit RNs must possess good skills for coping with stress and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Summary:
The Med Surg Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive high-quality, patient-centered care in medical-surgical and telemetry units. This role involves assessing patient health conditions, monitoring cardiac telemetry data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage diverse patient needs. The position requires strong clinical skills in med-surg and telemetry nursing, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.
Essential Work Functions:
Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' conditions, documenting changes and reporting concerns to the care team
Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures
Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists, and social workers, to create and implement individualized care plans
Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use
Advocate for patients' needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan
Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate

How you'll contribute
The Wound Care RN is responsible for all assigned nursing care activities to include but not limited to wound care for patients of all ages and other clinical activities associated with providing safe patient care. The RN is responsible for following all WHC policies and procedures, care protocols and Diversified Clinical Services Practice Guidelines, as directed by a Registered Nurse, or Physician. The RN will be responsible for assisting with patient and wound care data conferences, and continuing education is required as determined by the Program Director.
Essential Functions
Performs duties as assigned and requested.
Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.

Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelor's degree or associate degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
