TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Environmental Interns for our Summer 2026 intern program out of our Blue Ash, OH Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2026 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.
Responsibilities
* Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/review estimates, research, procurement support, etc.
* Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation
* Field assistance with groundwater sampling, soil sampling, soil vapor sampling, ecological risk assessments etc.
* Field work oversight such as soil excavation, remediation, due diligence inspections, etc.
* Perform engineering calculations and design assistance for government, commercial, and industrial properties as needed
* Support field sampling projects and assist PM's when in office
* Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
* Must be at least 21 years old
* Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
* Minimum GPA of 3.0
* Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills
* Self-motivated, detail orientated person
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
* Honest, fun, hard-working with a positive attitude and ready to learn and grow
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCad, MathCad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ARCView GIS, etc.) is preferred but not required
* OSHA 40 hour safety or 30 hour OSHA safety training preferred, but not required.

About the Role
This is a skilled position requiring the individual to manage and help lead the company in being proactive in environmental compliance reporting directly to the Environmental Director. We seek a detail-oriented, self-motivated employee with strong communication skills to manage environmental compliance relative to aggregates and asphalt production. The successful candidate must be capable of establishing and fostering relationships with company personnel, regulatory agencies, and consultants.
Responsibilities
Assist the Environmental Director with implementing all company environmental policies and initiatives
Assist in obtaining all local, state and federal environmental operating permits required for aggregate and/or asphalt production facilities
Ensure company environmental compliance at all production facilities through education and training of company personnel
Perform compliance reviews and inspections of company facilities to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental permits, rules and regulations
Ensure records and appropriate documentation is being maintained at each aggregate facility to ensure compliance with operating permit conditions
Administer facility programs for solid waste, wastewater, stormwater and air emissions
Coordinate and complete periodic regulatory reporting for air emissions and stormwater and process wastewater discharges
Coordinate and complete required annual reporting for facilities under EPCRA Section 312 (Tier II)
Research and apply existing and proposed local, state and federal regulations to keep management aware of how regulations will impact the company
Coordinate any emergency spill response actions if necessary to minimize impacts to the environment and complete remediation efforts
Miscellaneous duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Bachelors of Science Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science or a related field
Five years of environmental compliance responsibility is preferred
Knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulations that govern aggregate facilities is preferred
Maintaining a current Visible Emissions Evaluation Certification is required within 6 months of hire
Required Skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the company
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist supervisors with other duties as required
Must be able to work independently without close supervision
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Must be willing to travel and work away from home as required

Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
High School diploma or equivalent;
Six (6) months of experience in general maintenance and/or construction in a utility environment preferred;
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with safe driving record;
Special Requirements:
Must be able to obtain a valid Class B CDL within six (6) months of employment;
Must be able to obtain a Class D Wastewater Collection license within twenty-four (24) months of employment;
Serves "on-call" status on a rotating basis as well as after hours and weekends on an emergency basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The EnvironmentalTechnician position may be assigned to provide construction, industrial or environmental related inspections and services.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in the Environmental Section of the Storm Water Quality Division in the Public Works Department within the City of Oklahoma City and reports directly to a supervisor. The EnvironmentalTechnician is responsible for ensuring the general compliance with applicable environmental codes, ordinances, and environmental protection standards. Knowledge of specific codes, ordinances and environmental protection programs may be required prior to assuming the duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience in water quality-based assessments, stream biological/habitat assessments, fish/aquatic macroinvertebrate collection techniques, best management practice maintenance, storm water inspections, hazardous waste segregation, or enforcement of environmental-based codes and regulations.
Possession of a forty (40) hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification or other applicable regional or national certifications or licenses.

The Storm Water Quality Division provides inspections, enforcement, water quality assessments and technical services, public outreach, household hazardous waste services and emergency response for residents, businesses, and government agencies to comply with the Clean Water Act's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit for storm water discharges. The EnvironmentalTechnician position may be assigned to provide construction, industrial or environmental related inspections and services.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in the Environmental Section of the Storm Water Quality Division in the Public Works Department within the City of Oklahoma City and reports directly to a supervisor. The EnvironmentalTechnician is responsible for ensuring the general compliance with applicable environmental codes, ordinances, and environmental protection standards. Knowledge of specific codes, ordinances and environmental protection programs may be required prior to assuming the duties and responsibilities of the position. Essential job functions include: driving to conduct frequent field inspections to assess environmental conditions; enforcing established environmental codes and regulations and providing effective remedies; responding to inquiries from citizens and complaints regarding environmental violations or concerns; responding to emergency reports of hazardous and/or non-hazardous spills or conditions; and conducting environmental screenings and samplings of ambient water and other potential environmental contaminants. The employee is also responsible for assisting with special activities or projects; attending meetings of environmental committees, agencies, and boards; generating routine reports; assisting with public awareness programs and special events; and maintaining laboratory supplies, equipment and materials used to sample and test water quality and conduct investigations. The work is primarily performed on an independent basis. The employee must exercise tact and diplomacy in communication with citizens, businesses, and various City personnel. The nature of the work performed may require the EnvironmentalTechnician to support decisions made in conjunction with the enforcement of established laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, and collect evidence relating to possible court testimony. Work assignments are received in both verbal and written form and are subject to review through inspection of records maintained, and through complaints registered by private citizens and businesses.

Responsibilities:
Perform universal/chemical waste disposal, neutralization tank remediation, chemical inventory, lab services support, confined space entries, chemical decontamination, underground and aboveground storage tank cleaning and closure, sample collection, separator cleaning and emergency response services
Show determination/eagerness to learn and retain a basic knowledge of daily work practices
Develop an understanding of DOT, EPA & OSHA regulations and TEI's Health and Safety Practices
Understand and execute all required paperwork
Pickup and delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and materials with a sharp focus on customer service
Be able to wear a respirator for 4 to 6 hours for client specific projects
Provide clients with high-quality and professional customer service
Routinely perform vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections
Assist Supervisor, Leadman and other Equipment Operators as requested
Basic Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic knowledge of, or interest in, hazardous waste field
Self-motivated person with the desire to learn
Successful completion of OSHA/ DOT physical examination which includes drug and alcohol screening
Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation
Willingness to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class with Hazmat Endorsement
Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC)
Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
This is a Safety Sensitive Position
Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
The EnvironmentalTechnician frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.

Active HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour certification
Possess Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class with Hazmat Endorsement

BASIC PURPOSE
Performs field tasks requiring basic skills as guided by a supervisor, which are primarily associated with the restoration of migratory fish on the Susquehanna River. Functions are often repetitive and routine.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the operation of three fish collection facilities at Conowingo Dam to trap and transport American Shad, river herring, and American Eels.
Perform field, technical, and biological tasks requiring basic skills as guided by a supervisor.

Our Field Wildlife or Project Biologist | Part-time, Hybrid position will be located in California in a hybrid work schedule.
This Field Wildlife Biologist role involves conducting biological surveys, preparing reports, and monitoring construction activities to ensure regulatory compliance. The position requires strong field-based decision-making, communication skills, and proficiency with tools like ArcGIS GPS for mapping biological resources.
As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Perform biological surveys, report preparation, data tracking and analysis, construction monitoring, and other services related to compliance with the biological and regulatory requirements associated with the projects.
Biological monitoring duties require in-field decision-making as well as oral and written communication skills.
Duties may include general and focused biological resource surveys, nest surveys and monitoring, habitat restoration monitoring, web-based reporting, and the use of ArcGIS GPS equipment for mapping identified biological resources.
Southern and/or Central California biological field experience required. Training will also be provided as needed.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
Participate in the company's continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
Perform other duties as assigned.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS in biology, ecology, wetland science, plant ecology, or similar fields.
Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record per company standards
1-6 years of professional experience in biological surveys, biological/construction monitoring, or similar field/biological experience.
Proven familiarity with biological resources in Southern and/or Central California with a strength in botany, wildlife biology, and/or wetland ecology.
Basic understanding of FESA, CESA, CEQA, and NEPA.
Experience and training with ArcGIS and GPS technologies for large-scale biological resource inventories and conservation planning efforts.
Professional experience with one or more of these species is preferred: desert tortoise, Arroyo toad, red-legged frog, burrowing owl, coastal California gnatcatcher, least Bell's vireo, desert kit fox, Mohave ground squirrel, San Bernardino kangaroo rat, Stephen's kangaroo rat, as well as other special-status plant and wildlife species in southern and central California.
Experience with plant and wildlife on Catalina Island and Coastal Zone is preferred.
Professional experience with nest monitoring, construction monitoring and compliance, or habitat restoration is preferred.
Current/previous USFWS 10(a)(1)(A) Permit and current/previous CDFW Scientific Collecting Permits is preferred.
Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Ability to work remotely and independently with minimal supervision/direction.
Flexibility to adapt to changing document directives and deadlines.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of computer-aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class and annual 8-hour refresher class.
