TRC is seeking an entry-level Environmental Technician in the Air Measurements Practice of our Warrendale, PA or Groveport, OH office to assist with the performance of air emissions testing projects at various industrial facilities. Responsibilities Responsibilities: * Projects involve a considerable amount of overnight travel, projects may be all over the country. The field-testing portion of each project typically lasts from 1 to 5 days and the test teams are generally home on the weekends, but some projects may require working or traveling on a weekend. The number of people needed in the field and the number of days in the field, varies with each project and changes from week to week. Expect 75% of the weeks to involve field work. * When not in the field, duties may include equipment calibrations and repairs, prep and packing for future projects. * During testing, the Environmental Technician will be at the location recording data, operating equipment, or working in the trailer recovering samples, performing analysis, etc. * The Environmental Technician will become proficient in the various EPA sampling methods and develop knowledge about many types of industrial processes. Qualifications Requirements: * Must be able to comfortably lift and carry 50 pounds. The testing projects can involve moving equipment to, and working at, elevated test locations, such as an exhaust stack platform or a rooftop. Access to the test location may be by elevator, stairs, or a ladder. * Must be able to work comfortably throughout all the seasons as much of the work is outdoors. * Completion of assigned responsibilities in a team setting with strong written and oral communication skills, and moderate computer skills. * Successful completion of a background check and drug test (including marijuana) prior to employment or within five working days from date of hire. Once hired, participation in the TRC random drug testing program. * Possession of a valid driver's license and successful completion of a pre-employment motor vehicle records check to confirm a good driving record. Once hired, maintaining valid DOT driver status (not Commercial Driver's License) is required. * Successful completion of all required annual safety training. * High School diploma or GED is required.     The Environmental Lands Technician duties involve all aspects of managing the County's system of designated nature preserves and environmental lands. Coordination with the Environmental Lands Specialist and Parks and Recreation Department in the operation and maintenance in accordance with adopted resource management plans and accepted natural resource practices for the Hernando County preserves is required. Coordination with other County Departments and outside agencies is also required. The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but shall not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload. * Assists in managing the ecological resources on County nature preserves and parks including invasive plant management program, prescribed burning program, habitat restoration and other ecological activities in accordance with adopted policies, guidelines, and practices. * Coordinates the maintenance of recreational amenities and physical structures/buildings on designated nature preserves. * Repairs and maintains all aspects of nature preserves. * Builds and repairs a variety of fences. * Maintains preserve trails and amenities such as kiosks, parking areas, and pavilions. * Trims and removes trees. * Operates most equipment associated with lawn/turf maintenance. * Transports equipment used in daily activities from site to site. * Operates equipment (tractor, ditch-witch, jackhammer) and all other power tools associated with construction projects. * Maintains records for equipment. * Effectively manage phone calls from staff in your assigned area regarding questions, repairs or other circumstance that may arise. * Prioritize all maintenance repairs and safety concerns accordingly. * Communicate directly with the Environmental Lands Specialist about repairs, safety issues/concerns, and other pertinent information in your area. * Custodial duties within nature preserves as necessary. * Regular attendance including occasional weekends. * Additional duties as requested by manager. DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION The Storm Water Quality Division provides inspections, enforcement, water quality assessments and technical services, public outreach, household hazardous waste services and emergency response for residents, businesses, and government agencies to comply with the Clean Water Act's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit for storm water discharges. The Environmental Technician position may be assigned to provide construction, industrial or environmental related inspections and services. JOB SUMMARY This job is located in Environmental Section of the Storm Water Quality Division in the Public Works Department within the City of Oklahoma City and reports directly to a supervisor. The Environmental Technician is responsible for ensuring the general compliance with applicable environmental codes, ordinances, and environmental protection standards. Knowledge of specific codes, ordinances and environmental protection programs may be required prior to assuming the duties and responsibilities of the position. Essential job functions include: driving to conduct frequent field inspections to assess environmental conditions; enforcing established environmental codes and regulations and providing effective remedies; responding to inquiries from citizens and complaints regarding environmental violations or concerns; responding to emergency reports of hazardous and/or non-hazardous spills or conditions; and conducting environmental screenings and samplings of ambient water and other potential environmental contaminants. The employee is also responsible for assisting with special activities or projects; attending meetings of environmental committees, agencies, and boards; generating routine reports; assisting with public awareness programs and special events; and maintaining laboratory supplies, equipment and materials used to sample and test water quality and conduct investigations. The work is primarily performed on an independent basis. The employee must exercise tact and diplomacy in communication with citizens, businesses, and various City personnel. The nature of the work performed may require the Environmental Technician to support decisions made in conjunction with the enforcement of established laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, and collect evidence relating to possible court testimony. Work assignments are received in both verbal and written form and are subject to review through inspection of records maintained, and through complaints registered by private citizens and businesses. A DAY IN THE LIFE IDEAL CANDIDATES will have an intimate understanding of oil and gas field operations (experience working in an O&G facility would be a definite asset) and have experience in performing hydrocarbon fugitive emission and /or leak detection projects. Our US offices are located in Denver, CO, Houston, TX and Pittsburgh, PA; however, this opportunity is a 100% field position and will require extensive travel throughout the USA. This position will focus on our clients in the USA (EPA Subpart VV, VVa, KKK, OOOO, OOOOa, and W compliance) but may also require occasional travel to work on projects in Canada or other international locations. The FE Technician will report to the FE Team Lead. The successful candidate will be required to take a number of safety training courses prior to initiating any field activities (CPR/1St Aid, H2S Alive, WHIMIS/TDG, Fall Protection etc.). Any candidates that already have valid training tickets will be given preference. This position includes a comprehensive safety and technical training program (both field and office based).
