Overview TRC is seeking a highly motivated Senior Roadway Engineer for our growing transportation practice in Ohio. Working on the Transportation team at TRC offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Position can be based in one of our TRC offices in Cleveland or Columbus Ohio. What you will be challenged to do: This position will be a member of our roadway group and will lead and assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculation, geometric design, drainage design, MOT, specifications, cost estimates and other related tasks. MicroStation, AutoCAD (optional), OpenRoads, MS Office and other design software will be used, and all work will be in collaboration with other engineers and technicians. This position will also help mentor young engineers and will be given the opportunity to develop into a project manager. Candidates with a background in preliminary engineering or development of detailed plans and specifications are preferred. Candidates must possess strong technical skills and the ability to work well in team environment on multidisciplinary projects. Responsibilities * Prepare and/or preferably direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for roadway design projects. * Review project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications. * Show understanding of team management, resource needs, prepare CPM schedules and track project progress. * Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and occasionally represent the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work. * Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects. * Responsible for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness, follow-through and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards. * Research design options and document findings * Keeps supervisor informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services. * Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies. Key Responsibilities: * Perform engineering reviews of development projects to ensure compliance with code and design standards. * Complete development engineering reviews including, but not limited to: Grading and Drainage Plans, Water and Sewer Plans, Paving Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Signing and Striping Plans, Streetlight Plans, Landscaping Plans, Streetlight and Maintenance Improvement Districts (MID & SLID), Preliminary and Final Plats, Drainage Reports, Water and Sewer Reports, and/or Soils Reports. * Coordinate with both internal and external customers to review and process development projects from planning to permitting and the inspection stage. * Attend meetings and clearly communicate engineering requirements to developers, engineers, planners, architects, city officials and the public.
