    Treasurer, Graphic Artists Guild

I recognize that this is a challenging time to find a job. My suggestion would be to think about the long game. If there is an opening at a company you respect and would like to work for, but it is a lower level than you think you deserve or in an adjacent area to where you would like to work, think about applying for it and repositioning yourself, once you've established yourself. I got my first job out of school in the production department of an ad agency. I wanted to be a designer, but the production job is what they were offering. After a few months, I was allowed to start designing and transitioned to a full-time designer within the year.
