TRENT company history timeline

1936

He began work in May of 1936 to design the finest 9-hole facility possible, designing a scenic course using the property’s woodlands and the adjacent Fox River to its full extent.

1939

The course, which was the final project of Pottawatomie Park’s Works Project Administration (WPA) development project, opened for play on Saturday, July 1, 1939.

Originally designed in 1939 by the pioneer of golf course architecture, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., who capitalized on the course’s location along the banks of the Fox River, it is here you will find his first island green design on hole 3.

1952

Stores are currently present in Pune and Bengaluru.Trent Ltd was incorporated in the year 1952 as Lakme Ltd.

1973

1973: The Water Act creates ten regional water authorities in England and Wales.

1974

1974: Severn Trent Water Authority is formed.

1989

Water supply became the primary activity of Severn Trent, the successor company to the state-owned Severn Trent Water Authority, when it was privatized--along with the rest of the water industry--in 1989.

1991

The company became a major player in the waste management industry with its 1991 purchase, for £212 million, of Biffa Waste Services, the fourth largest firm of its kind in Britain and the tenth largest in Europe.

1993

Severn Trent was convicted of six pollution offenses in 1993, however, making it the fourth worst offender in the United Kingdom for dumping waste into rivers.

1994

In 1994, Severn Trent received a ten-year contract to provide an array of water and wastewater services to a quarter of Mexico City.

1995

Moreover, a similar reduction was expected for 1996--97. As a result, Severn Trent's domestic customers received a £4 reduction in their bills during 1995--96.

1998

1998: Severn Trent Services is formed.

2000

The company also added 24 new labs to Severn Trent Services in 2000, with the intent of becoming a major provider of lab analysis and onsite monitoring in the United States.

2003

During the year 2003-04 the company opened their stores at Mumbai Ahmedabad Noida Mulund and Bangalore.

2004

During the year 2004-05 the company acquired 100% of the share capital of Satnam Developers and Finance Pvt Ltd which is engaged in the business of construction and development of real estate.

2006

In May 2006 they opened a new Landmark store at Andheri in Mumbai.During the year 2006-07 the company opened four new Westside stores at Jaipur Lucknow Surat and Mysore.

2007

In February 2007 Landmark Ltd along with their subsidiaries acquired 52.18% of East West Books (Madras) Pvt Ltd for a total consideration of Rs 1.14 crore.

The subsidiaries of Landmark Ltd namely Westland Books Pvt Ltd and Eastwest Books (Madras) Pvt Ltd merged together and formed Westland Ltd with effect from April 1 2007.

In September 2007 the company made a strategic partnership with Benetton India Ltd for the commercial expansion of Sisley brand in India.

During the year 2007-08 the company opened three Westside stores in Ahmedabad Ludhiana and Delhi and two Star Bazaar stores in Mumbai and Bangalore.

2009

In February 2009 the company entered into a MoU with Inditex Group to develop and promote Zara stores in India.

Inditex would hold 51% and Trent would hold 49% stake in the proposed joint venture company.On 4 November 2009 Trent Limited entered into definitive agreements for the sale of 14.03 lakh equity shares of Rs.

2013

The Appointed Date for the merger shall be 1 April 2013.

2014

On 21 March 2014 Trent Limited announced that it has approved definitive agreements regarding an investment by Tesco PLC UK (Tesco) in Trent Hypermarket Limited (THL) a wholly owned subsidiary of Trent Limited.

2015

THL operates the Star Bazaar business.On 24 April 2015 Trent Limited launched first Sport Zone store the largest chain of sports shops in Portugal in India at Bangalore.

2016

The partnership plans to open five Sport Zone stores in India by end of 2016.

2020

In 2020, the District embarked on another shoreline stabilization project, this time to preserve the picturesque island green that draws so many to the course.

2021

At 1.79 million, demat accounts opened in June fewest since Feb 2021
