Job Summary: The Vice President of Accounting oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance functions while remaining hands-on with day-to-day activities. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards within the Sage accounting system and across the organization. The VP of Accounting provides strategic leadership, drives process improvements, and prepares the accounting function for future growth, including potential progression to a CFO-level role. As a valued member of our team, you will: Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance. Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting policies and GAAP. Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are current, accurate, and properly classified. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements. Prepare and present financial statements, analyses, and variance explanations to executive leadership. Analyze financial performance and trends, identifying risks, opportunities, and recommendations for improvement. Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and asset disposals. Lead and coordinate annual audits, serving as the primary accounting liaison with external auditors. Ensure strong internal controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to nonprofit accounting standards. Oversee payroll accounting entries and benefits-related accruals, as needed. Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, planning, and operational decision-making. Optimize accounting systems and processes (Sage). Our ideal candidate will have a commitment to excellence and the following education, experience, and proven skills: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field ; CPA preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility. Experience in nonprofit, ministry, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred. Expert knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards. Proven leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing teams. Strong strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to connect financial data to organizational goals. Hands-on, solutions-oriented approach with comfort operating at both tactical and strategic levels. Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and technical issues. Provide detailed reports on any technical failures or incidents during live broadcasts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Associates or Bachelors degree in Broadcast Technology, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Strong technical knowledge of television production and broadcast equipment, including cameras, switchers, sound systems, and transmission technologies. Proficiency in using broadcast software and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems quickly and efficiently. Knowledge of video and audio signal formats, encoding, and compression. Ability to work in high-pressure environments and adapt to changes quickly.
