Thompson Law, located in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas, is seeking a personal injury litigation attorney to manage all aspects of litigation and trial. Unlike many litigation positions, this position will involve handling cases that are regularly taken to a jury verdict. If you want the opportunity to try cases, this position will provide you with the opportunities and resources to make it happen. You will be a part of a fast-paced team environment and will have all the needed support to allow you to focus on the proper workup of all cases in preparation for settlement or trial. The position will have a dedicated litigation paralegal assisting on all cases, and further, medical records clerks will obtain and organize all medical records related to the client’s file.
Minimum Qualifications:
3-15 years' experience, preferably, with at least 3 years of personal injury related experience. Overall organization and attention to detail are absolutely necessary. This role will require the hands-on management of your cases. Willingness and ability to interact with clients, adjusters, and other lawyers/paralegals over the phone and in person. A desire to try cases and enjoy your work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Spanish speaking. Personal injury litigation experience. Prior trial experience.

Under limited direction of the Subrogation Department managing attorney, performs duties of legal counsel in the prosecution of civil subrogation claims, and representation of the Company in a variety of courts of law, and other related appearances.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:


Handles the investigation of potential subrogation claims and all phases of civil cases in state and federal courts relating to subrogation rights arising from payment of worker' compensation benefits. Prosecution of civil litigation claims involving products liability, negligence, and premises liability actions. Handles all aspects of discovery, including written and documentary discovery, takes depositions, analyzes records, and testimony, prepares and files related reports. Represents the Company in appearances at court hearings and conferences; prepares and files related reports. Researches and prepares complex pleadings for cases in state and federal civil courts. Provides advice, training, and recommendations on claim handling strategies and tactics to relating to subrogation matters. Performs legal research at all levels, from advising clients through the appellate procedures. Acts as inter-departmental training seminar leader. May assist in training other attorneys and staff relating to subrogation matters. Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Responds positively to direction and critique of performance. Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor. Performs other duties as assigned.



Education, Skills and Requirements



High School Diploma or equivalent required Juris Doctorate Law school graduate and member in good standing of the California State Bar. required 5+ years' experience as a Trial/Litigation Attorney on civil litigation matters, with plaintiff's litigation experience preferred. Lead counsel experience in jury trials to verdict is required, with additional experience as lead and/or second-chair counsel in jury or court trials preferred. Preferred Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, in an articulate, persuasive, precise and professional manner Experience with training small groups in current legal practices and procedures in the field of subrogation Ability to lift legal files, including documents and exhibits, up to a weight of 30 pounds Must be willing and able to travel extensively using all means of public transportation, as well as capable of prolonged automobile driving, in excess of three hours a day, to widely dispersed venues Valid Driver License in good standing

Insurance Defense Trial Attorney
Consider joining our legal team where you'll represent client and our policyholders in complex civil litigation matters involving claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damage of mid to high level exposure.

•Experienced trial lawyer: You'll manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery though trial prep and court proceedings and negotiating settlements as required.
•Strategic partner: Researching all applicable laws and findings, you will develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation and share them with claims representatives and insured clients.
•People person: You'll establish and maintain good relationships with claims reps and clients, and occasionally conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims or other departments.
•Effective communicator: You'll develop and render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies, and draft legal documents, pleadings, motions and opinions.
•Collaborative mentor: You'll provide guidance and direction to junior attorneys, paralegals or law clerks, while also having opportunities to interact and collaborate with Home Office Legal.

Experience
