Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience, and skillset of the candidate. Job Purpose

Lead on engaging senior management, including senior executives (i.e., regional, divisional, global, and group-wide executives) and DHL Group Boards on risks and requisite remedies or solutions in the above described areas.
Lead attorney on DHL Group's Global Customs Committee, chaired by the Global Customs Office (GCO), and including Global Divisional Customs Compliance Officers for all divisions, and Global Divisional leads. Lead discussions within the committee on customs compliance issues and internal investigations where there is a US nexus.
Advise the Global Head of Customs for DHL Express, the Senior Vice President for Global Customs for DHL Global Forwarding, the Supply Chain Divisional Compliance Officer, the Vice President and Head of Customs and Trade Compliance for DHL E-commerce, and the Head of the GCO on best practices for US-related customs compliance.

Identify and select outside counsel to advise on major investigations.
Advise the Group's Corporate Public Affairs on U.S. customs and other regulatory issues.
Advise DHL business units on internal investigations and voluntary disclosures concerning the regulatory areas listed above.
Represent DHL business units before customers and other commercial partners on regulatory matters and explain regulatory requirements imposed on the business unit.
Provide regular updates on all regulatory matters to leadership in the Legal Department in the Americas and globally.
Lead customs law issues in the Americas region by advising other members of the Legal Department on customs laws and best practices in conducting internal investigations and responding to penalty actions surrounding customs issues and driving customs compliance agendas throughout the region.
Maintain relationships with government authorities to forecast vulnerable areas for DHL and also monitor new legal and regulatory developments in the trade and other regulatory areas to translate and forecast for the business units.
Interact with the rest of the Legal Department in the region to support and advise other generalists on trade law and regulatory matters including contracts, customer issues, inquiries, etc.
Advise the business partners on TSA, BATF and other regulatory matters as assigned, and work to mitigate CBP and TSA penalties.
Manage U.S. Government audits, including site visits inside and outside of the United States.
Your Profile
B.A. (from an accredited college or university).
J.D. (from an accredited law school) plus 10+ years' experience in a corporate legal environment
Expertise in CBP regulations with knowledge or willingness to learn TSA, BATF regulations.
Knowledge or willingness to learn trade laws of key markets in the Americas (e.g., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc.).
Experience managing or contributing to internal investigations on trade or regulatory compliance violations including the development and administration of compliance metrics.
Experience dealing with DOJ and FISA subpoena inquiries.
Prior government experience a plus but not required.
