Department Description We are a comprehensive breast imaging center providing services across nine fixed locations and two Mobile Mammography Units. The expert and caring staff at Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health are fellowship-trained, board-certified specialists who focus on breast health. We conduct hundreds of mammograms each week and diagnose and treat more than four hundred patients each year. Under the supervision of a Radiologist, you will utilize specialized knowledge and skills to produce high-quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures, and DEXA exams for specified patient population. As an imaging professional, you'll be aligned with the latest technology, evidence-based medicine, and clinical research. How do we set you up for success? For technologists with no prior mammography experience we offer a comprehensive 12-week training program that will equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to provide high-quality breast care. For experienced technologists we provide an abbreviated training program that includes a comprehensive review of our protocols, machines, and IT platforms. Position Summary Under the supervision of a Radiologist, utilizes specialized knowledge and skills to produce high quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures and DEXA exams for specified patient population. Assumes responsibility for directing and controlling qualitative and quantitative standards of work performed at Bearden-Josey Centers of Breast Health. Minimum Requirements Education * Associate's Degree from an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology Experience * Documented 40 hours of training specific to mammography as required by the FDA * Documented 8 hours training in each mammography modality to be used to perform exam as required by the FDA * Documented performance of 200 mammogram exams in the last two years as required by the FDA * Documented 15 hours of continuing education, 3 years consecutively as required by the FDA License/Registration/Certifications * ARRT registry in Radiography with registry or registry eligible status in Mammography * South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Licenses * Current Basis Life Support (CPR and AED) provider Preferred Requirements Preferred Education * N/A Preferred Experience * N/A Preferred License/Registration/Certifications * N/A Core Job Responsibilities * Perform screening and/or diagnostic mammograms and bone densitometry exams * Assist radiologist with invasive breast procedures * Review images for quality and tissue acquisition * Explain procedure to patient reducing anxieties and obtain patient history relevant to exam * As requested by radiologist communicate results to patient * Open communication with scheduling and registration to ensure appropriate physician order is obtained * Engagement with Breast Imaging Navigator as needed to assist with further patient needs or appointments * General equipment assessment, reporting any issues to Breast * Other Duties as assigned

Complete appropriate documentation on all systems, mark review and transmit to PACS in a timely manner. * Assist other healthcare professionals with imaging procedures, starting IV's, delivery of oral contrast and injecting contrast, when applicable. * Assist radiologist/physicians with fluoroscopic X-ray and interventional procedures in the department and other areas where portable radiographic equipment is utilized * Positively responds and implements change when needed and has good decision-making skills. * Assists with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area * Properly utilize accessory equipment such as injectors, patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations * Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and/or written clinical history to the radiologist and other healthcare professionals. * Assists in training of new staff and students during clinical rotations * Follows, maintains and helps implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures * Consistently communicates with patients, guests, staff and physicians in a positive manner * Knowledgeable of compliance and regulatory requirements and adheres to Federal, State, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests and facilities * Adheres to departmental procedures and protocols * Rotating call schedules for after hours and holidays where applicable * Ensure correct charging of procedures and supplies daily * Works as a team member with peers and other departments.
