TriHealth company history timeline

1995

Created in 1995, TriHealth is a health care system based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1995, when Bethesda partnered with Catholic Health Initiatives to form TriHealth, our focus moved away from health care operations and toward supporting the strategic and financial goals of the new integrated healthcare system.

1996

1996 Doctor Frank Schlueter, with subspecialty training in Interventional Radiology, joins group.

In 1996, Group Health established a Mason office, followed by a Finneytown center the next year.

1997

1997 UNO voluntarily leaves Good Samaritan Hospital.

1999

November 17, 1999 “Business Courier” Newspaper article about the decision to close Bethesda Oak Hospital.

2000

2000 Doctor David Huelsman joins group.

In 2000, Springdale was the first center to go live on EpicCare, the premier state-of-the art electronic medical records system.

By 2000, difficult decisions—such as closing Bethesda Oak Hospital had come about.

2002

2002 Doctor Angie Beckes joins group.

2003

2003 Doctor Galen Chun joins group.

Smith performed the first robotic assisted cardiothoracic surgery in the city of Cincinnati in 2003, and has trained a multitude of surgeons from nationally and internationally renowned institutions.

2005

2005 TriHealth buys Group Health Associates.

2005 Good Samaritan Radiology PACs system goes live.

2005 Doctor Kim Draud, with subspecialty training in Musculoskeletal Radiology, joins group.

By 2005, this collaborative spirit began to bear fruit in the form of strategic plans that would shape TriHealth’s future.

2006

2006 Good Samaritan Radiology Department moves to newly renovated Fifth floor location.

2007

2007 Doctor Steve Kruis joins group.

2009

In August 2009, Bethesda North Hospital opened the doors to a new 47,755 square-foot outpatient imaging facility, which houses the Mary Jo Cropper Family Center for Breast Care at Bethesda North.

2009 Doctor Mike Kreeger, with subspecialty training in Musculoskeletal Radiology, joins group.

In 2009, the Springdale office again explored new territory as a participant in the Patient-Centered Medical Home model project, which was designed to revolutionize family medicine and internal medicine practices.

2010

And they continue to grow, with plans to break ground in December 2010 for a new Clifton center.

In 2010, Group Health put electronic medical records in the hands of patients through MyChart, an Internet-based tool.

2013

By 2013, Group Health expects to have more than 140 physicians.

Invested more than $93 million in community outreach in fiscal year 2013

2017

Healthiest Employers - Ranked 67th in country on Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America, September 2017

2020

Today, Bethesda and Good Samaritan hospitals both have added new towers, which will ensure enough beds to care for patients through at least 2020.
