Sets specific grinding speeds, feed rates and spacing per task requirements. 3. Provides necessary counts, processes documentation correctly, and maintains daily production logs using computer software applications or production worksheets. Keeps interim records for subassemblies, material, tooling, rework, etc. while in the cell. 4. Uses basic Machine Shop theory to understand specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions, or verbal orders, and visualizes product to determine dimensions, tolerances and parts to be ground. 5. Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the production operations in a cell. Uses interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications. Assists other cell members as required. Equipment / Process Responsibilities - Performs duties where property, tools, equipment or machines may be damaged, or man hours lost through improper daily maintenance or attention to processing. Sets up and calibrates grinding machines for the jobs performed. Learns to maintain and affect minor repairs of machines. Material or Product Responsibilities - Performs duties that require close attention to work and supporting documentation specifications and other requirements. Responsibility for accuracy of parts machined. Visually and / or with measuring instruments, checks work performed for proper results. Work is frequently checked by trainer. Responsibility for Communications - Accuracy of communication is mandatory to the successful production and, (qualification of work pieces. WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental Surroundings - Work is in a machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, the repetitive nature of job, etc. are less desirable than in a typical office environment. DUTIES Be qualified to establish techniques, carry out the test, and interpret the results Accept or reject parts are to be identified or marked after inspection test is completed Able to interpret vendor test results Accurate inspection record keeping capabilities Monitor calibration requirements of area equipment Interpret vendors penetrant test results accurately Read and interpret inspection indications and evaluate them with reference to applicable specifications Accurate ability to organize and report test results Read and interpret company, customer and military drawing and related specification as required The pay range for this position is from $20.00 to $30.58 (hourly). Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Graduate and some Tech Training plus PER ASNT SNT-TC-1A and MIL-STD-410 5 to 8 years experience as Penetrant Inspector KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be qualified per ASNT recommended. Practice SNT-TC-1A, Supplement "D" and appendices and MIL-STD-410 Sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication and product technology to establish techniques and procedures for penetrant inspection Communicate through oral or written communication in English. Qualifications OTHER COMPETENCIES: Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Able to communicate effectively within and outside of the department. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and understand blueprints, work orders, pick lists, and inventory reports. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software and Manufacturing software. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift / Mobile Equipment Certification Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-3 year of related experience and/or training. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
