This position is an essential part of Sherwin's manufacturing team. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment to support production requirements and goals. Equipment may include: dryers, chillers, thermal oxidizer, HVAC, fire pump, mixers, mills, filling line equipment, conveyors, wrappers, tanks, motors, pumps, tank washers, tank tipper, as well as dock and building maintenance, etc. This position performs various maintenance tasks as assigned and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and productive working environment. We are looking for a new member of our facilities and equipment team who is looking for a stable and productive work environment, with emphasis on long-term employment. The role is responsible for both maintaining the equipment in the production floor, and the facilities including warehouse and the office area. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Inspect and maintain equipment and facilities as necessary to ensure that they are operating safely, efficiently, and follow federal, state, and local regulation. This includes interior as well as exterior areas. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities according to PM schedule and documents work done. Install manufacturing and equipment and fixtures as required for manufacturing, engineering, and quality. Repair equipment promptly, including off shift breakdowns, recommending use of outside contractors where necessary. Assemble, install, repair, effectively maintain and troubleshoot new and existing plant equipment while working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using hand or power tools. Provided technical assistance and resolution when mechanical, electrical problems occur. Enter operation and maintenance data into logs, reports, and computer databases. Order maintenance supplies / parts. Keep management appraised of potential problem areas concerning equipment and facilities. Respond to Department calls and emergency call-ins. Keep all areas under maintenance responsibility clean, neat, and organized at all times. Provide training, coaching and development opportunities to the maintenance team. Support all manufacturing and Lean efforts in the plant. The Maintenance Technician will assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Education, Qualifications, & Experience Needed High school diploma (or Educational Equivalent) Technical degree, trade related certification(s), and/or technical training are preferred. 2- 3 years demonstrated experience in maintenance technician required; manufacturing environment preferred. Advanced knowledge and applied understanding of electrical, mechanics, and pneumatics principles are required. Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment is required. Experience using various hand and power tools, machine shop equipment, electrical testing equipment, measuring instruments and other devices is required. PLC troubleshooting is required. Experienced with TPM and/or 5S is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel is preferred. Experience with maintenance software (such as IBM Maximo) is preferred. Ability to understand and read different technical prints and/or diagrams is required. Computer literacy is preferred. Ability to operate various lifts is required. Ability to read, hear, speak, comprehend, and carry out verbal and written instructions in English is required. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Mechanical maintenance experience is required. Maintenance supervisors oversee and coordinate the workers who maintain and repair mechanical equipment, electrical, plumbing, ventilation and all other manufacturing systems. They are responsible for evaluating problematic systems in the facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed. Supervisors organize schedules and assign work activity. They perform training to ensure individuals have all the requisite skills. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing maintenance procedures and maintaining personnel records. Duties and Responsibilities: · Guide the facility to reduce technical stoppages in equipment or areas of common occurrence (priority given to areas of highest incidence or impact). Ensure the systematic review of all line, processes, and utilities that are critical to the business and those where failure can have an unacceptable impact on safety, personnel safety, food safety, environment, or compliance with the law. · Monitor plant/equipment trends to ensure best possible operation and reduction of planned/unplanned downtime. · Propose and monitor key performance indicators in accordance with the Best Maintenance Practices. · Facilitate the evolution/refinement of Maintenance activities to minimize planned and unplanned downtime (PM's, changeovers, etc.). · Supervisory Responsibilities · Ensure the implementation of all repairs/modifications resulting from Gap assessments, plant audits, and notifications are executed on time and offer a high-quality workmanship. · Ensure that the job planning, material and services planning is accurate and effective. · Ensure that the equipment history, damage code and root cause analysis are completed correctly. · Evaluate the performance of team members and provide periodic feedback to ensure development. · Communication · Share maintenance-related best practices across all of Eddy Packing's maintenance personnel via Leadership, training guides, etc. · Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and Plant Operations to ensure customer needs are met. · Encourage close team work between all functions (Engineering, Productions, Quality Management, etc.). · Conduct regular inspections of plant to seek out potential problems and to solicit operator feedback. · Consolidate and analyze the factory M&R budgets, drive value-added and sustainable improvements. · Manage the Maintenance Parts store, scheduled Work Orders, labor hour allocation and the equipment Bill of Material (BOM). · Support and back-fill the roll-out and sustainability of TPM-PM Pillar across all of Eddy Packing's Departments. · Assures compliance with government regulatory agencies. · Other duties as assigned.
