Trinity Christian School company history timeline

1953

Trinity Christian School was founded in 1953 under the name Christian School of Wilkinsburg.

1967

Trinity Christian School of Palm Beach Gardens, a ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church, has been successfully promoting the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of preschool and kindergarten-aged children since 1967.

1969

The school then added a middle school and celebrated their first 8th grade graduation in 1969.

Since 1969, Trinity Presbyterian Church has served Spring Valley and the surrounding communities through our preschool, which is founded on providing a nurturing, loving environment for the youngest learners as they are introduced to basic skills.

1977

The name ‘Christian School of Wilkinsburg’ was then changed to Trinity Christian School in 1977.

1978

In 1978, a committee from Trinity Church formed to study the feasibility of establishing an elementary school.

1979

The campus was again relocated to the former Thad Stevens School, during which time a high school was added in 1979.

1980

In September of 1980, Trinity Christian School opened with just 10 students (grades K-2) under the leadership of teacher/principal Sally Sweat.

Shortly after its founding in 1980, Trinity was amongst three schools that were included in a proposal by the then Education minister, Wal Fife.

1981

Founded in 1981, Trinity Christian School is the oldest and largest Christian school in South Dallas.

In 1981, the school expanded to 60 students, combining grades up to the sixth.

1983

The first high school class, which included 9 students (see photo below), graduated in 1983.

1989

After the consolidation that resulted in the creation of the current Woodland Hills School district, Trinity purchased the former Forest Hills Middle School building in 1989.

1994

In August of 1994, JCS expanded with a preschool for 3 and 4 year olds in two locations, Westview Baptist Church and Judson Memorial Church.

By 1994, an elementary school offering kindergarten through third grade was offered featuring the A Beka Christian curriculum.

1996

Response to Trinity Christian School was so positive that, in 1996, the school purchased and renovated its current facility in Midnapore.

1999

The present elementary building was constructed and occupied in 1999 to provide necessary classroom space for the rapid growth.

2001

Over 600 students have graduated from Trinity Christian School since 2001.

2003

On December 27, 2003 Joliet Christian School moved into our current facility at 901 Shorewood Drive.

2004

In September 2004, Trinity expanded to include grades seven and eight so that a Christian school experience is now available for children ages three through 13.

It quickly reached capacity, leading to the 2004 construction of the Newton Center, a building which included 12 new classrooms, a large gymnasium, fellowship hall/cafeteria, and facilities for the growing music, sports, drama and P.E. programs.

2005

In 2005, Trinity United Methodist Church members committed to offering Christian education to Elementary students.

2006

In 2006, to meet the growing desire for Christian Education, TCS began expanding by adding a second grade 1 class.

2009

In August of 2009, grades 8-12 were relocated to the original campus of Crossroads Church to accommodate increased high school growth.

2010

With the continued increase in enrollment came the need for more space and in 2010, Trinity opened a new middle school wing.

2011

Sharlene Park became the principal, a position she held for thirty years until her retirement in June of 2011.

2012

In August of 2012, a new middle school building was completed at the main campus and now houses 6th –8th grades, which allowed for expanded growth in the elementary.

2013

Their dedication to serving area families and sharing the love of Christ compelled Trinity United Methodist Church and the Trinity Christian School family to offer Middle School in 2013.

2018

In October of 2018, a state of the art high school building was completed and all of our students were combined onto the same campus for the first time in almost 10 years.
