Responsibilities:
Inpatient Obstetric Care: Provide 24/7 in-hospital coverage for labor and delivery, including triage, active labor management, and postpartum care.
Emergency Response: Manage obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and emergent cesarean deliveries.
Procedural Expertise: Perform vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, operative vaginal deliveries, and other obstetric procedures.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with MFM specialists (in house 24 hrs), certified nurse midwives, OB/GYN residents, private attending physicians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and nursing staff.

Job Description:

Position Summary:
All Teaching Faculty members shall: Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources; and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Dean or Chair of the department, this AssistantProfessor is expected to teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in the discipline area of study. Additional duties may include evaluating and assessing student learning; providing student support and academic advising; planning and executing program-related events; assisting with program reviews; developing curriculum and periodically evaluating teaching materials; and attending workshops and or conferences to maintain currency in profession and field. The teaching schedule may include both day and evening classes. Course delivery systems may be lecture, hybrid, and/or online.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; service on assigned committees and task forces; and attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Nursing or a related discipline. Active R.N. licensure in Connecticut.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

Two (2) years' college teaching experience (48+ credits) with four (4) or more years (Fulltime Equivalency) of clinical nursing experience.
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching Maternal Child Nursing, Medical/Surgical Nursing, Well Child Nursing, and or Mental Health Nursing.
APRN, D.N.P., Ed.D. or Ph. D. in Nursing or closely related field.
Experience with accreditation processes and standards, ensuring compliance with all necessary standards and criteria.
Established relationship with local healthcare facilities for potential clinical partnerships.
Experience in developing and implementing innovative nursing education strategies.
Experience incorporating technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.
Bilingual in Spanish/English.
Starting Salary:
Minimum Salary; $75,362 approximate annual* plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.
*Because the start date for this position falls within the second semester of the academic year, bi-weekly pay will be prorated across the remaining pay periods. Connecticut College welcomes applications for a tenure-track AssistantProfessor position with joint appointments in Human Development and Africana, starting on July 1, 2026. We are looking for a scholar who specializes in the foundations of Child Development and Africana Studies, particularly someone knowledgeable in African-centered and/or African-American perspectives on child development.
The tenure home for this faculty member is in the Department of Human Development. However, as mentioned above, the position is jointly appointed with our Africana program. Due to the joint appointment, the applicants' tenure file would be reviewed by scholars in both Human Development and Africana Studies.
The teaching load for this position is five courses per academic year: two in Human Development, two in Africana Studies, and one that will be cross-listed between both departments (with the option to cross-list additional courses). For Human Development, the candidate is expected to teach child development courses, including Children and Learning Environments and Individual Differences in Development. For Africana, the candidate should be able to teach the interdisciplinary introductory course (AFR 237: Inquiry in Black) that includes the history, culture, and intellectual traditions of Africa and the diaspora and an upper-level core course.
We welcome a candidate who is well-versed in African-centered and/or African-American approaches to early child development and could possibly integrate the Connecticut College Child Development Lab School and the New London community in their research. The Lab school is a model child and family-focused early childhood preschool program for young children of diverse backgrounds and abilities. It provides a laboratory setting for student placements and gives them an opportunity to apply theory and concepts to real-life cultural settings.
This search in Human Development and Africana is one of two tenure-track joint positions with Africana Studies at Connecticut College. The other position is in Education and Africana Studies, and the Education Department is housed in the same building as the Human Development Department. The faculty hired in this position will participate in the growth and development of the Africana Studies program at Connecticut College, which includes the advising of Africana majors and minors, programming, and serving on the advisory board.

Trinity College's International Studies Program invites applicants for the Patricia C. and Charles H. McGill III '63 Visiting AssistantProfessor of International Studies for academic years 2026-2028. This fellowship is a two-year appointment for a recent Ph.D. (within the past five years) who has either received a bachelor's degree or lived for a substantial period in Africa, Asia, or Latin America and the Caribbean. The International Studies Program offers six interdisciplinary undergraduate majors: Global Studies, African Studies, Asian Studies, Caribbean and Latin American Studies, Middle East Studies, and Russian and Eurasian Studies.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach three classes per year, including "INTS 207: Global South" and deliver a public research lecture in the spring semester of the second year. At least one course per year should contribute to our Global Studies major by addressing a topic of transnational significance from an interdisciplinary perspective.
