Trinity Health company history timeline
In 1979, Holy Cross Health System was formed to bring unity as well as economic and professional solidarity to the health care organizations sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.
Trinity Health At Home was founded in 1986 under the name Amicare Resources Inc.
In 1989, two regional communities of the Sisters of Mercy agreed to co-sponsor our health system as an innovative way to preserve and enhance both of their health ministries.
The Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas was established in 1991 to unite 25 Mercy congregations and provinces within a common direction.
In 1993 Trinity Health became the first hospital in North Dakota to recruit and employ its own physicians.
Also in 1996, Mercy Health welcomed the Sisters of the Humility of Mary as sponsors.
The Franciscan Sisters of the Poor joined as sponsors in 1999.
That assimilation was enhanced in 2001 with the purchase of UniMed Medical Center and associated facilities from Quorum Health Group, thus achieving a longtime goal in the community to consolidate Minot’s healthcare facilities.
Trinity Health was formed on May 1, 2013 by the coming together of two national Catholic health systems: Trinity Health and Catholic Health East.
