We are seeking a Primary Systems Electrician III to operate, maintain, and repair primary electrical distribution systems and the associated normal and emergency equipment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on the power distribution systems, automatic transfer switches, outdoor gas circuit breakers, transmission feeders, amp guard starters, battery chargers, and alarms, protective relays, low case molded circuit breakers, generators, emergency switchgear, and capacitors. Performs preventive maintenance on primary electrical systems. Maintains and repairs Electrical portable and fixed components and systems in the hospital. Troubleshoots problems on primary systems. Installs new circuits and equipment. Responds to emergency system breakdowns, power outages, and equipment failure. Participate in Peak Management. Maintains and repairs motor control systems. Maintains and repairs the secondary side of the primary systems. Oversee and coordinates construction activities and electrical maintenance work performed by outside contractors. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. Performs other related duties as required. Education and Experience Requirements: * High school graduate or equivalent. * Completion of four (4) years of trade school. * Five (5) years of Journeyman Primary Electrician experience. * 100 hours Primary Systems Electrical training. Special Requirements: * Journeyman Electrician certification. * Completion of required Primary Systems Electrical training. Hours: 7:30a - 4p Monday - Friday - On call rotation Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements; Knowledge of prescribed electrical procedures and methods governed by the National Electric Code. Knowledge of primary electrical distribution systems. Knowledge of fundamentals of electrical instrumentation. Knowledge of CCHS policies and procedures. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in analytical thinking and mechanical problem solving. Ability to solve electrical problems associated with electrical distribution systems. Ability to operate drills, saws, electrical tools, pipe cutters, threaders, benders, electrical test equipment and power tools as necessary. Ability to utilize vendor documentation for troubleshooting components. Ability to handle emergency situations and react quickly and effectively. Ability to read and work from blueprints and specifications. Ability to effectively organize work assignments. Physical demands: Walking, lifting, bending, reaching, climbing and working in cramped locations.
