What You'll Do
Performs vascular ultrasound examinations and Doppler flow analyses of blood vessels, using ultrasound equipment, to assist providers in diagnosing vascular conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, peripheral artery disease, and carotid artery disease. Conducts non-invasive diagnostic imaging to evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data related to the circulatory system. Credentialed in ultrasound RDMS and current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist.
Schedules and coordinates vascular studies, ensuring timely and efficient patient care.
Accurately records test results and maintains detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
Calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains ultrasound equipment, ordering necessary supplies as needed.
Ensures adherence to patient safety protocols, including proper positioning and use of ultrasound techniques to minimize patient discomfort.
Serves as the primary interface with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive imaging experience.
Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction efforts, and continuing education related to vascular imaging.
Assists Provider during venous procedures as needed.
Provides venous mapping to expedite procedures and increase patient safety.
Engages in multidisciplinary collaboration, attending committee meetings and assisting with vascular-related physician and patient education.

Credentialed in ultrasound RDMS and current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist.
Must have an American Heart Association BLS card within 3 months of hire and must be maintained throughout GRHD employment

What You'll Do
Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data for use by physicians in diagnosis.

Participates actively in Performance Improvement, Radiation Safety, Patient Satisfaction, Radiological Patient and Physician Education, Continuous Quality Improvement, and other various committees as assigned.
Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
Who We're Looking For
Credentialed in ultrasound ARDMS or ARRT(S) required.
Experience in OBGYN, Abdomen, Vascular, Breast and Small Parts preferred.
Must have an American Heart Association BLS card within 3 months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
Prefer one year of professional Ultrasound experience in a hospital patient care setting.
Minimum 18 years of age.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

The DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER (UltrasoundTechnologist) operates ultrasound equipment under the supervision of a doctor to reveal internal, anatomical structures and medical conditions that cannot be captured by x-rays. Sonographers may specialize in examining specific areas of the body, for example: echocardiographers (heart), eco- encephalographers (brain), obstetrical/gynecological sonographers, and vascular technologists.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of diagnostic medical sonographer academic work and clinical training. Length of training depends on level: certificate, associate, or bachelor's degree.
LICENSURE
State specific; American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) exam and registration.
EXPERIENCE
At least one year of experience as Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a clinical setting.
CREDENTIALS
Current CPR; and other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory Agencies; ARDMS registration.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with ATC policies/procedures.

Ensures an adequate stock of supplies at the work site and proper functioning of equipment.
Provides patient services in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Maintains competency by participating in continuing education programs and meets state specific requirements, if applicable.
Complies with accepted ethical and professional standards of conduct.
Reviews patient chart for relevant information and history.
Determines test procedures according to purpose of examination and physician orders.
Explains procedure to patient and assists patient in proper positioning for the test.
Selects transducer, and makes equipment adjustments according to nature of test, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
Enters required test data and patient information into computer to become part of test record.
Conducts actual test procedure; moves transducer by hand over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasound image produced.
Records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film.
Produces a permanent record of test results.
Recognizes test results which may constitute critical clinical situations and notifies
physician immediately as per facility protocol.
Recognizes and responds to other patient emergencies according to facility protocol.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Position Overview
The UltrasoundTechnologist is responsible for operating ultrasound and non-invasive vascular equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. This role ensures the delivery of safe, accurate, and high-quality imaging, and requires excellent technical proficiency, professionalism, and a patient-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
Perform ultrasound examinations as outlined in the Radiology/Ultrasound Procedure Guide
Monitor and assess patient condition, document findings accurately and promptly
Provide education and guidance to team members and promote collaborative practice
Ensure optimal image quality by conducting equipment checks and adjustments
Participate in ongoing quality improvement and maintain accreditation standards (ICAVL, AIUM)
Operate RIS/PACS systems competently within job scope
Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure readiness of the imaging environment
Participate in department meetings and support team communication
Stay current with continuing education requirements to enhance skills and maintain certification
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Completion of an educational pathway approved by ARDMS
Preferred: Graduate of a CAAHEP or CMA-approved ultrasound/vascular technology program
Licensure & Certification
Certification and registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular Technology
Must obtain ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire if not already held
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
Preferred: Certification and registration as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
