In this position it is helpful to have technical experience / strong background in: Set-up and operation of CNC Turning and Milling machines CNC Machine shop operations and materials Role and Responsibilities: Serve as the Grand Valley Manufacturing Co. representative for new and existing customers, acting as a conduit for all required information to expedite orders. Understand manufacturing equipment capabilities and limitations to determine pertinent information required to evaluate customer enquiries for manufacturing fit, profitability of order, and volume potential for Grand Valley. Collaborate with customers to collect blueprints, specifications, and related documents needed to prepare estimates. Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical documents to understand the scope and requirements of the project; including, but not limited to, identifying materials, dimensions, tolerances, and finishing requirements. Utilize knowledge of machining processes, labor costs, material costs, machine capabilities and timing, tooling costs, and vendor processes to calculate estimated costs to produce the desire parts or components. Research, and incorporate into estimates, vendor costs for outside manufacturing/processing. Provide technical expertise to customers, assisting them in understanding estimates and manufacturing capabilities. Gather and analyze data regarding estimate performance, externally and internally. Maintain estimate / cost database for future reference. Perform contract review: review or credit terms, price, lead time and delivery, current drawing/revisions, and work scope description. Return to customer for review if discrepancies are found. Follow through on new and existing purchase orders, regularly update the customer on order status. Participate in pre-production meetings for new or complex orders. Participate in weekly Sales Meeting. Prepare required paperwork for Grand Valley Manufacturing to be added as an approved vendor. Act as a technical resource for production, assisting them in understanding customer specifications. Maintain a knowledge base in the relevant marketplace for Grand Valley (larger GVM customers and industries). Posses a strong sense of urgency to keep projects on task. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. 2-5 years' relevant experience in machining or estimating in a manufacturing setting. Experience/background as a machinist is beneficial. Preferred Skills Understanding of basic tooling and machining. Strong analytical, math, and organizational skills. Able to understand technical drawings and requirements: blueprints, engineering drawings, proposal documents, etc. Ability to problem solve, adapt to changing customer requirements, and make educated decisions independently. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis in Excel. Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal. Able to present information to a small group or one-on-one, internally, and externally. Detail-oriented. High energy, positive attitude, and comfortable engaging with customers. Able to work well in a team environment.
