As an Industrial Engineering Intern on the Integrated Business Planning team, you will experience a wide range of assignments supporting our global business functions and operations. Global Category Analyst: Indirect

The successful candidate in this entry-level, growth-oriented position will be challenged to develop skills in research, analysis, reporting, project management, and Strategic Sourcing category management. The skills will be employed to support the Director, Strategic Sourcing- Indirect, and Global Category Managers across a broad and complex spectrum of Indirect Goods and Services. In addition, the successful candidate will also be responsible to work with business stakeholders to support productivity and efficiency initiatives as directed.
The intended initial priorities of this role will be to support Strategic Sourcing efforts in

* Support Category Managers to implement accele TRON initiatives to achieve value. This may involve creating and loading project documentation into management tools, coordinating meetings, working with internal stakeholders and suppliers to achieve milestones, and other tasks required to achieve initiative milestones and value.
* Best Cost Country Sourcing (BCCS) which is focused on identifying and developing global low-cost/ high quality sources of supply that can be shared and leveraged across regions. In this capacity, the candidate will report indirectly to the Global Category Manager: MRO/BCCS as an opportunity to learn and adapt to reporting in a matrix organization.
* Support the Strategic Planning efforts of the Strategic Sourcing team to develop and communicate the medium and long-term strategy of specific categories and initiatives.
* Support the Strategic Sourcing function in the roll out and adoption of the COUPA Sourcing Optimizer (CSO) tool and other identified tools to help increase efficiency and effectiveness of organization.

Responsibilities:

As a Global Category Analyst you will be responsible to:

* Coordinates the development, issuance, and evaluation of Request for Proposals and Request for Tender packages.
* Negotiation of low value contracts for certain commodities and or services for geographical area for Tender packages.
* Management of low value supplier relationships with supplier account managers
* Development of Contract Approval Requests as required by the DoA (Delegation of Authority)
* Preparation of procurement strategies for low value contract negotiations
* Management of processes to identify, develop, and qualify alternative suppliers to ensure security of supply
* Supplier selection based on bid analysis and supplier evaluation criteria within scope of authority

Senior Analytical Testing Scientist

We are seeking candidates who can manage laboratory safety, compliance and analyses in support of R&D and Applications Testing in a well-equipped and continually updated analytical laboratory. The candidate is expected to run and maintain a variety of analytical instruments, continually develop expertise across a broad array of techniques, and train, manage, and develop a group of technical personnel on the use and care of the instruments. Technical expertise in laboratory safety and the use and maintenance of analytical instrumentation are required. Experiential expertise in measurements of a variety of inorganic, organic and polymeric analytes are all desirable. Preferred applicants will be motivated to continually improve the way the laboratory operates and the value of the analyses for internal and external customers.

The position will report directly to the Director of R&D and Technical Services and will work closely with R&D, Applications and Technical Service. Specific duties of the position include:

* Lab Safety and Compliance - Working directly with the local safety leader to follow all laboratory safety protocols. Ensuring that all personnel working in the labs received appropriate lab safety training and refresher courses, updating chemical and hazardous materials inventories, managing hazmat waste inventories and scheduling waste pick-ups.

* Analytical Instrumentation Maintenance - Manage the maintenance, repair, and calibration of over $10M of analytical instruments. Analytical instrumentation includes ThermoFisher ICP-MS and ICP-OES, Agilent GC, UIC Carbon Analyzer, Bruker XRD, Panalytical XRF, Surface Area analyzer, Particle Size Analyzers, SEM, TEM, TGA, DSC, Tensiometer, ThermoFisher FTIR, and various scales, titrators, incubators, drying ovens and muffle furnaces.

* Safe and Effective Analyses - Ensure the effective management of test requests including potential method development to meet an ever-changing set of requirements in new product development and customer support.

* Continuous improvement in Laboratory Capability - Work with the Director of R&D to build and execute a capital plan to improve the analytical capability of the laboratory.

* Global Collaboration - Work globally to provide analyses and expertise with the sister R&D site across multiple pigment plants and mining sites.

* Manage Shared Laboratory Space - Facilitate the use of shared space most efficiently and effectively, implement standard operating procedures for the use of shared space and instruments, organize the flow of work in sample processing, maintain order, cleanliness and safety in all laboratories.

* Instrumentation-Use Training - Train personnel on the proper use of instruments in research and QC analyses, and interpretation of results. Conduct analyses in areas of greatest expertise and continuing to build upon capabilities for additional analytical techniques.
* Supervision - 5 direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

The most desirable candidate will have a Master's degree (PhD preferred), or extensive experience in analytical lab management and in Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience as a laboratory analytical chemist, or in a similar professional role. All candidates must have demonstrated experience with laboratory safety and compliance and be able to work autonomously.

A high level of expertise in statistical analysis including Design of Experiments and significant experience with LIMS are highly desirable.
