Tropic Supply company history timeline
Our story began on April 15, 1973 when Tropic Supply was incorporated by our fearless leader, Charles F. Del Vecchio.
Tropic Supply Inc. (Tropic) has been serving the HVAC/R industry in Florida for the past 45 years, opening its doors in 1973 out of a warehouse in Miami.
T-4 South Fort Lauderdale (original location), opened in 1981.
INTERESTING FACT: From 1984 through the early 90s, Tropic Supply was a sub-distributor for the Ruud air conditioning line.
T-6 Fort Pierce, opened in 1985.
T-7 Mid-Miami, opened in 1988.
The finished product – T-8 opened its doors in 1991.
Chuck joined the business full-time in 1992, shortly after graduating from Tulane University.
Our Naples resource center opened in 1993.
The original location of our Cape Coral resource center, opened in 1995.
2000 FACCA Appreciation of Sponsorship Award.
2000 Servend Ice Breaker Award.
2000 Shurtape Technologies Outstanding Growth.
2001 ARW Wholesaler Award.
Our East Tampa location opened in 2004.
2004 SF-ACCA Director Award.
While he would not become President until 2007, he began to play an instrumental role in Tropic’s growth.
In 2008, Tropic Supply took on the Ruud residential and commercial air conditioning lines in Florida.
2008 Johnson Controls Outstanding Sales Growth.
Peak Performance Award from Emerson/Copeland (2011).
In January 2012, the company upgraded its ERP to Infor SX.e and started to deploy the system’s “generic” reporting, which users found cumbersome.
Summit Performance Award from Emerson/Copeland (2012).
Sales Performance Award from Russell (2013).
40-Year celebration award from Sporlan (2013).
In 2014, the company went through the process of evaluating other data analytics solutions, ultimately deploying Phocas.
Recognition award for our annual sponsorship of ARPEC’s apprenticeship graduation ceremony (2014).
Sales Achievement Award from Fujitsu (2014).
Gold Premier Performer Award from Ruud (2014).
