TRU Community Care history
TRU Community Care company history timeline
Founded as Boulder Hospice in 1976, TRU is a Colorado-licensed, Medicare and Medicaid-certified, nonprofit health care organization serving Boulder, Broomfield, Adams, Jefferson, Denver, and Weld Counties and beyond.
1976: Boulder County Hospice became the first hospice in Colorado
1977: Fifteen patients cared for in the first year
1991: Satellite office opened at the James House in Longmont
1999: In-patient Care Center opened in leased space on Balfour campus in Louisville
2001: Services were consolidated in new Lafayette office
2003: Name changed to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties as 30 years of service were celebrated
2005: Thrift Shop and Grief & Education Center opened in Boulder
2006: Formed partnership with Bumbuli Lutheran Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care in Tanzania for mutual learning and support
2007: Longmont office opened and Palliative Home Health was introduced
2010: 43 children and teens attended Camp Erin, our first weekend-long grief camp
2013: Name changed to TRU Community Care to reflect our expanded programs and growing service area.
2016: TRU celebrates its 40th anniversary of providing end-of-life and grief services to the community
2017: Began serving participants through TRU PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly)
