My client, a well-established 3PL, is growing and expanding its customer base and is looking for an experienced dispatcher to lead a new fleet, and be part of the growth of their domestic trucking business. This is a fairly new facility so you’ll be part of the ground floor opportunity. You are remote in your home office Monday thru Friday.
JOB SCOPE:
You’ll be based in Nashville, TN. You will dispatch for the Jeffersonville, IN drivers (5), with a very big account. Then their other shipments will be dispatched to the Portland, TN drivers (5). Both locations are fairly new and will be increasing in size as they grow new business.
- The geographic footprint for their Jeffersonville trucks is: GA, AR, DE, GA, IA, IN, KY, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NY, OH, PA, WI. The drivers are normally home on the weekends.
- The Portland, TN drivers are home basically every night with some exceptions. Their geographic footprint is GA, AL, MS, KY, OH, and TN.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all Company, DOT & OSHA procedures.
- Dispatch & support drivers
- Review drivers’ daily inspection reports
- Review drivers’ daily log & keep for 6 mos for each driver
- Review Driver trip reports for accuracy & addressing discrepancies
- Maintain reports, on-time data entry
- Assist in the procurement of backhauls

The position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations requests of the domestic department. This includes, receiving, booking, routing and tracking domestic shipments, and processing loads as per the established processes and procedures.
The operations coordinator will generate and protect the revenue generation and cost-containment goals and objectives of the company. This is a full-time position with a first shift, weekday schedule (8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday). Hours in excess of 40 per week may be required to meet business needs. Employee must be available after hours by phone as back up to on-call dispatcher and to assist with problems. The on call schedule is on a rotation so on-call does not occur every week.
Job tasks for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Use and knowledge of Truck Load Boards
* Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers, supervisors, drivers, mechanics, vendors and staff. Must have ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees or members of the business community and effectively negotiate rates with vendors and carriers.
* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Negotiating pricing with carriers using current industry techniques.
* Ensure Truck Management Software TMS and other software tools are utilized to fullest capacity by all dispatchers. Booking loads with operation centers and secondary carriers
* Remaining aware of operation center and alternate carrier equipment availability
* Act as after hours on-call dispatcher to ensure night and weekend loads are covered on rotational basis.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Personal skills should include good verbal and written communication skills with appropriate command of the English language. This position must also possess an appreciation of cultural differences in work habits and the ability to meld these into the corporate expectations of overall performance. Computer skills should include a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to type 35 words per minute with minimal errors. This position must also be able to perform logical process and mathematical analysis. Additionally, the person filling this position must have basic functional and working knowledge of the company automated reporting systems and be able to coordinate and transfer work on paper and automated results in written and oral form to customers, subordinates, associates and management from multiple locations and disciplines.

* Minimum 3 years truck brokerage operation (preferred) or dispatching experience

Busy Logistics company is seeking 2 Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) Dispatchers and 1 Office person. Role & Responsibilities are:
- Driver check-in calls. Call drivers:
- 8:00-8:30 AM Say good morning, and get driver / load status.
- 12:00-12:30 PM Check in for delays/ load/ driver status
- 4:30-5:00 Let them know you’re gone for the day
- Book drivers and meet weekly quota for each driver.
- Request detention and follow up to obtain updated rate confirmation before the closing date for that week (Monday). Update drive spreadsheet accordingly and follow up with billing to make sure the load is billed correctly in the event detention or lumpers are added at a later time.
- Accurately build loads and dispatch drivers using dispatch software. All loads must be processed through the dispatch software and strict compliance is required.
- Update drivers and equipment as necessary
- Update Google drive spreadsheet with load information, CORRECTLY and no later than one hour after booking the load.
- Update Google drive AR folder with load documents, CORRECTLY.
- Monitor loads and update brokers from Pick up through delivery, including the following:
- Daily Check calls
- Provide brokers with PODs when requested within 24 hours of delivery
- Provide lumper receipts to brokers within 24 hours of delivery. If company pays for lumper, request reimbursement for lumper fees and submit comdata bill along with lumper receipt within 24 hours of delivery.
- BOLS
- Collect hard copies of BOLs from drivers every week, verify they are all turned in and file in the appropriate binder.
- Ensure electronic copies are legible and all paperwork has been attached to the load prior to closing the load for billing.
