CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This journey level classification is responsible for independently performing the full range of transportation vehicle operations, customer service and safety related duties in support of the El Monte Transportation Division. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Senior Transportation Driver in that the latter is responsible for technical and functional supervision of lower-level staff and is capable of performing the most complex duties assigned to the division.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:

Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
Two (2) years (24) months experience within the last five (5) years in the safe operation of a transit, paratransit, recreation or school bus.
The minimum age for employees in this classification is twenty-one (21) years.
Licenses and Certifications:
* Possession a valid California School Bus Certificate or Commercial Class B Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement, Verification of Transit Training (VTT) Certificate, Air Brake endorsement, and current California Department of Motor Vehicle Medical Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
* Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year, a CPR and First Aid certification to be maintained throughout employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in a predominantly vehicle driving/operation environment; to operate a motor vehicle and drive on highways, surface streets and city roads in light to heavy traffic conditions; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. Vehicle operation visual requirements include near and distance, color vision, night vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The job involves sitting for long periods of time while operating vehicles, and walking on multiple types of surfaces to inspect vehicles and assist passengers. Finger dexterity, reaching with hands and arms, and using leg/foot to reach or handle vehicle controls and lifting devices to operate assigned equipment is needed. Summary:
In the essential role of Non-Emergency Transport (NET) Driver for Roots, Inc. dba Roots Through Recovery, the incumbent is responsible for the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of clients enrolled in Roots housing and treatment programs. This includes transporting clients to and from substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, recovery meetings, program activities, medical appointments, and other approved destinations.

Fleet Driver/Transporter Qualifications:
Must be over the age of 18
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; required
Current California Driver License; required
Current and valid proof of automobile insurance; required
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience; required
Clean driving record with DMV driver's record printout; required
Communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, health screening, TB screening and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds

Truck driver-over-the-road job in Thousand Oaks, CA
Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday* * including weekends and holidays, as needed Momentum is hiring a Fleet Driver/Transporter for our greater Los Angeles area, including the San Fernando Valley and Thousand Oaks. As the Fleet Driver/Transporter, you will be responsible for providing transportation to people supported at Momentum, the upkeep of company vehicles, vehicle inspections and safety checks. The Fleet Driver/Transporter will be the main source of transportation for Momentum's people supported to and from day programs, appointments, and community outings.

Fleet Driver/Transporter Essential Responsibilities:
* Ensures safe operation of the residential transportation vehicles
* Ensures the safe and timely pick up and drop off of people supported and staff
* Safely operates vehicles on surface streets, freeways, highways, and interstates in compliance with DMV and Highway Patrol protocols
* Operates vehicle lift for people supported in a safe manner and ensures wheelchairs are secured properly
* Follows transportation schedule
* Provides direct & personal care to people supported
* Keeps van interior/exterior neat and clean
* Completes and maintains required vehicle documentation
* Follows company policies regarding safe and proper use of lift and transfer of persons supported
* Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs
