Truck loader job description

The heavy equipment operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in an efficient, safe and appropriate manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life while supporting mining activities. Heavy equipment may include rock truck, packer, rubber tire backhoe, dozer, excavator, scraper, grader and other pieces of equipment. Duties include but are not limited to:
Up to $25.00 hour!
Eligible for monthly production bonus!



Operates all equipment in an efficient manner and for its intended use while supporting mining activities Conducts pre-operational checks on equipment and cleans, lubricates and refills equipment as necessary: notifies the supervisor or foreman of all damaged or unsafe equipment or tools. Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, dozers, loaders and graders to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during mining related activities Operates heavy equipment to move, load and unload materials and supplies. Cleans heavy equipment as schedules and/or required, including removing personal belongings and trash from cab and wiping up spills etc. Interacts with internal or external customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner that contributes toward a positive and productive worksite.



Experience and Skills


Must have experience operating at least some of the following equipment: rock truck, packer, rubber tire backhoe, dozer, excavator (Caterpillar, Hitachi, John Deer and/or Komatsu mini 50's to 800's), and single motor scraper. Experience operating single engine 621 (G/F) Caterpillar scrapers, D6 (R/T) or D8 (T) Caterpillar or 650 John Deer dozers or 14-140 (H) graders is considered an asset. Sound understanding of safety regulations, safe work practices and work procedures and be capable of assisting in maintaining safe work sites. Good vision and spatial ability. Good eye-hand coordination and good manual dexterity. Physical strength and stamina. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Basic small hand and power tool knowledge is considered an asset. Previous sand/gravel mining experience is a plus

Primary job responsibilities are organizing pallets in preparation for load-out, loading/unloading trailers/box
trucks and handling all required documentation. Certified pallet jack/forklift driver a plus. Effectively
communicate with other employees and management. Must be able to work safely in a team setting and can
lift 50 pounds.

What You Would Be Accountable for:
The Lead Truck Loader / Unloader will be responsible for the following key pieces of work:
Leading the loader truck loaders in the organization, and stage orders in preparation for day of distribution to include but not limited to: Verify actual number of pallets compared to count sheet; Item spot check/quality control; Freezer/cooler counts; Assure that protein items are included with order; Verify SFP pallets and cheese. Loading and unloading freight, Consolidate freight to minimize total number of pallets; Sit-down and stand-up Forklift training and certifications available. Sit-down and stand-up Forklift training and certifications available.
What You Would Be Doing Right Now:
Assist in Recycle program Process, manage and return to inventory, driver return item. Assist in receiving during heavy inbound days. Forklift experience and the ability to obtain forklift certification. Basic knowledge of food storage, handling and distribution procedures. Basic knowledge of inventory control processes and procedures. Valid California driver’s license and a clean DMV printout - preferred but not required Proven ability to safely operate all types of warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts and dock levelers.
What Else You Should Know:

PREFERRED Cantonese, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, or Tagalog language fluency. Knowledge of Food Bank Programs. Basic computer skills. Able to work in a fast-paced environment and take direction from multiple managers. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1 year’s basic warehousing experience required. Work inside freezers and coolers with a temperature range of –10 degrees F. to 38 degrees F. Up to 1/3 of the time: push or pull; lift or carry large, heavy, awkward objects while maneuvering in a confined space, e.g., narrow aisles, high density storage areas, inside of a truck box, etc.; ascend or descend flights of stairs; climb in or out of trucks, docks and/or forklifts.

SALARY The position is Full Time. The starting salary for this position ranges from $32.97 hourly ($68,515 yearly), with exact salary depending on experience.
