Trupanion is looking for a self-motivated individual who is interested in using their investigative nature to lead our North American quality assurance team and help drive quality testing in a rapidly growing, agile organization. You'll interact with both people and technology to support Trupanion's internal and external systems and report to the VP of Software Development & Quality Assurance. This is a position open to candidates anywhere in the greater Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week. Responsibilities: Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans for various projects. Work together with project managers, developers, and collaborators to define testing objectives and timelines. Team Management: Direct a team of testers, providing guidance, mentorship, engagement, and support. Build a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and exceptional execution within the Quality Assurance team. End-to-End Testing: Oversee all aspects of end-to-end testing, including functional, integration, regression, and performance testing. Ensure that test cases are developed, implemented, and documented according to established standards. Manage the warranty period for any major releases, owning the resolution timings and progression of fixes, and ensure system improvements that affect overall quality are part of the technology roadmap for Trupanion. Internal QA: Establish and enforce QA processes and standards to maintain product quality throughout the development lifecycle. Conduct detailed reviews of requirements, design specifications, and code to identify defects and areas for improvement. Drive quality metrics through analytics, reporting, and publication of known issues and hold larger organization accountable for a high quality bar. Ensure SOX compliance standards are met and/or exceeded within the Quality Assurance organization. UAT: Organize User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business partners as appropriate to validate that solutions meet business requirements and user expectations. Facilitate UAT sessions, gather feedback, and ensure timely resolution of issues. Tooling and Automation: Evaluate testing tools and technologies to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency. Drive the implementation of test automation frameworks to enhance test coverage and accelerate release cycles. Drive automation and AI roadmap for Quality Assurance automation testing. Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present test plans, progress reports, and quality metrics to project collaborators and senior management. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to address issues, risks, and dependencies impacting testing activities. Qualifications: 5-10 years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a strong track record of driving quality initiatives Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role, managing QA teams and mentoring QA professionals Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes Skilled in test planning, execution, and defect management, including leadership responsibilities Background in IT infrastructure, particularly with Microsoft Windows and Azure technologies is a plus Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, or Playwright Hands-on experience with tools like SQL, Postman, Jira, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, BrowserStack Relevant certifications including Microsoft Azure (Administrator or Architect level) and Information Security (e.g. CISSP, CEH) is desired Extensive experience in senior testing roles within fast-paced, regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, finance) is desired Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Skills: Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational ability Proven leadership and team management experience Proven ability to influence software development and IT/Infrastructure teams Self-motivated and adaptable, with a delivery-focused mindset Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to continuously learn Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build strong cross-functional relationships Compensation: The pay range for this position is $150,000 - $160,000, on a full-time schedule.
