What you will do
Radiologic Technologist 2 (Mammography and X-Ray) is a highly skilled professional who uses mammography and radiographic equipment to produce images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.
A Rad Tech 2 provides screening and diagnostic mammograms and other mammographic procedures to a variety of patients in an outpatient facility. A Rad Tech 2 is also able to perform radiographic procedures of various complexities on infant, child, adolescent, adult and later adult patients, ensuring the product of quality images of all appropriate anatomical structures for interpretation by the responsible radiologist.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a recognized program in Radiologic Technology. Associates Degree preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a recognized program in Radiologic Technology. Associates Degree preferred.
Experience: One year Radiologic Technology experience required. Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
Licensure: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology, Vascular Interventional Radiology preferred and Current Connecticut License.
Skills: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department's computerized system and its associated devices.

Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider, so that problem can be corrected in a timely manner.
Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department cleaning schedule.
Ability to properly operate all radiographic equipment in a safe and competent manner.
Assuring that equipment is not abused and is left in good working order.
Education and Communication
Patiently and clearly explains purpose and nature of exam to patient prior to starting of procedure, to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation using AIDET; Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, and Thank you of all patients and family members.
Ensures that patient's questions, concerns or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed, notifying physician when this cannot be accomplished, prior to the initiation of the procedure.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures.
Required documentation is concise, legible and includes precise terminology.
Reads email each day scheduled to work and follows through with assignment.
Completes mandatory departmental and Hospital-wide education without prompting.
Quality Control
Produces acceptable images, as evidenced by maintaining a first-time acceptance rate of 95 percent.
Ensures that equipment is fully operational prior to each use, by checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies.
Completes all studies in RIS, images are oriented, marked, labeled, and noted correctly prior to sending all studies to PACS; prints CDs as necessary.
When submitting procedures for interpretation comparative studies are digitized if necessary and the preliminary sheet is filled out in its entirety, if applicable.
Maintain all documentation so that the facility meets ACR Accreditation standards.
Technologist is knowledgeable in completing and documenting the following ACR/MQSA QC test: Phantom, Visual checklist, Repeat analysis, Compression-pressure, compression thickness, flat filed test, calibration, Dicom printer test.
Operations
Restocks linens and supplies, and maintains Mammography Department in clean and orderly condition.
Transports patients, positions patients, and helps them on and off procedure table.
Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered.
Applies shielding.
Prepares and maintains patient follow-up data.
Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request as needed and routinely as time is available, without prompting, so that all working time is used for departmental advantage.
Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel in accordance with procedure when warranted to ensure continuity and quality of services.
Keeps supervisor informed on all responsibilities on an ongoing basis, ensuring prompt notification in the event of problems or potential problems.
Maintains an individual productivity rate equal to other co-workers.
Familiar with Mammography Tracking System.
Maintains Joint Commission standards and any other regulatory agency standards
Familiar with FDA/MQSA EQUIP program
Performs other duties as assigned

Position Overview:
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of imaging procedures, including CT and X-Rays, at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to assist the physicians, nurses and other technical and administrative staff in meeting the needs of individual patients throughout the facility.
Operate and maintain all imaging department equipment including but not limited to X-Ray, CT, CR reader, and PACS
Perform all imaging exams in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws and ensure the physician on duty is notified of the results
Perform basic clinical procedures under the direction of the physician and/or nurse on duty
Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats
Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
Maintain an adequate supply of all reagents and consumables to perform quality testing
Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment
Perform Quality Control as established by this laboratory
Perform Proficiency Testing and/or Split Sample analysis periodically as established by this facility
Retain records of all analytic activities performed for a minimum of two years
Perform all Quality Assessment activities assigned to this position and document these activities for periodic review by the Laboratory Supervisor and/or the Laboratory Director
Other Job Functions:
Perform duties as ER Technician as needed
Maintain an adequate supply of all reagents and consumables to perform quality testing

Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography required
Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in computed tomography, preferred, with the following exceptions
CT certification required (Las Vegas Market)
CT certification required within 12 months of hire (Pennsylvania market)
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, required
