1974

In 1974, Tuesday Morning founder Lloyd Ross was working with big-name manufacturers when he had an idea.

1984

Tuesday Morning went public in 1984, and by the following year there were 56 stores in the chain, generating sales of about $37 million.

1987

In 1987 the company earned $3.7 million on revenue of $66 million.

By 1987 there were 81 large, no-frills Tuesday Morning outlets operating in 16 states, still mostly in the South.

1988

1988: A new warehouse facility is built.

1990

Company sales passed the $100 million mark in 1990.

1993

The transition began early in 1993, when Tuesday Morning president and chief operating officer Jerry Smith moved his office into the warehouse facility in order to observe the process more closely.

1994

For 1994 the company reported sales of about $190 million.

1995

By 1995 the Tuesday Morning mailing list contained over three million names, and the number of stores in the chain was approaching 250.

1996

There were 271 Tuesday Morning stores in operation by the middle of 1996.

1997

The net profit of $76.1 million realized from the sale was used to pay down debts incurred during the 1997 privatization.

1998

In 1998, Tuesday Morning stores had about $400 million in sales, he said.

2004

The settlement agreement was approved by the court on April 2, 2004, but the case continued through appeals into the following year.

By the third quarter of 2004, the company had 641 stores in the United States and Canada and appeared to be on track for continued expansion in the future.

2017

As of year ago, it was behind schedule and over budget, but now it’s looking on track for opening in the first half of fiscal 2017.
