Tufts Health Plan CEO and leadership

As CEO of one of the region’s largest health plans that provides health insurance coverage across the life span regardless of age or circumstance, Tom defines the company’s strategic plan, ensuring Tufts Health Plan maintains its strong culture of quality, innovation and customer service. Tom joined Tufts Health Plan in 2007 as chief operating officer and was named president in 2013. Tom is the current chair of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans, which represents local insurers and is dedicated to improving the health of the Commonwealth by promoting affordable, safe and coordinated health care. He is a member of the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, a commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace; New England Council; Massachusetts Business Roundtable; Rhode Island Quality Institute; and America’s Health Insurance Plans. He also serves as a board member emeritus for the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire chapter. He is a past member of the board of directors of the National Committee on Quality Assurance and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. He is a chartered life underwriter.

Deborah Stevens CISSP,CISA,CISM is a Chief Security Officer at Tufts Health Plan and is based in Greater Boston Area. She has worked as CSO at Tufts Health Plan. Deborah attended Bentley Systems.

Strong healthcare services professional with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) focused in Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine.

Tricia Trebino works at Tufts Health Plan and a Senior VP:Operations/CIO at Tufts Health Plan. She attended Wellesley College.

Umesh Kurpad is a Chief Financial Officer at Tufts Health Plan and Board Member at CARROLL CENTER FOR THE BLIND. He has worked as Chief Financial Officer at Munich Re Health America. Umesh works or has worked as MEMBER at Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM). He attended University of Florida and University of Delhi.

Allen Hinkle M.D. has served as a member of our Board of Directors since January 2006. Allen Hinkle has served as the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President for Tufts Health Plan in Massachusetts, a health insurance provider, where he is responsible for medical management programs and initiatives, since September 2004. Prior to becoming the Chief Medical Officer, Allen Hinkle was Senior Medical Director and Vice President of Health Care Quality, Policy and Innovations at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, a health insurance provider, from 2001 through September 2004. From 1995 to 2001, Allen Hinkle was the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Quality—Healthcare Management for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire and Matthew Thornton Plan, health insurance provider organizations. Allen Hinkle has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. Allen Hinkle received a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is board certified in pediatrics and anesthesiology and is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at Dartmouth Medical School and Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He also owns several U.S. patents on medical devices.
