This job classification performs a variety of activities essential to student performance in sensory processing, organization and integration, motor planning and coordination, fine motor abilities, and self-help judgment. Essential Functions: -Adapts school and classroom environment, tools and materials under the supervision of the school occupational therapist for the purpose of improving student function and facilitating student access to curricular and instructional activities. -Assists the occupational therapist for the purpose of identifying student abilities and skill levels in oral motor, sensory regulation and processing, motor planning, activities of daily living, fine motor function and postural stability. -Assists the occupational therapist with the development of the occupational therapy plan for the purpose of fulfilling the goals of the IEP. -Attends IEP meetings and staff meetings for the purpose of reporting findings and recommendations. -Completes Medi-Cal billing for the purpose of documenting and requesting reimbursement of services delivered to students from Medi-Cal. -Documents/maintains occupational therapy records noting reaction and response to therapy treatment keeping accurate records of therapy for the purpose of documenting student progress. -Follows Tulare COE policies and procedures relating to special education for the purpose of program compliance. -Implements home programs for the purpose of providing instruction for students and families. -Monitors the use of adaptive equipment and other assistive technologies for the purpose of therapy intervention. -Provides assistance to educational staff for the purpose of consulting, training, and directing individual or group activities. -Provides educationally-related occupational therapy services for designated students for the purpose of fulfilling the goals of the IEP.
