Sales Specialist Job in Steilacoom, WA
Job DescriptionJob SummaryUnder limited supervision, sell a specific product, service line, or solution that within another sales representative's territory. Act as subject matter expert to drive revenue, focusing on certain products or solutions. Partner with inside/outside sales representatives to assist in closing complex and/or technical sales that require additional expertise. Train/coach territory sales teams on technical knowledge related to specialty products/services to allow them to ultimately sell without assistance. May act as technical expert within the organization to contribute to the development of technical presentations and product strategy. Attend industry events, technical training classes, and professional organization meetings.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)
Sell entire VWR Life Science product portfolio, with emphasis on VWR bio Marke suppliers.
Identify and close new business with a focus on working with RDs, Business Development and Strategic Partners to drive National and Multi-site Programs in Life Science.
Strategic engagement and collaboration with generalist teams across all segments: PBI/ EMR/ Healthcare/ SciEd. Sell and communicate the VWR Life Science program strength to VWR sales reps, customers, and l suppliers.
Assists with supporting and mentoring new Life Science Specialists.
Help manage Life Science portfolio in local area, and ensure effective communication to sales reps, sales managers, and area vice presidents of sales goals, trends, and performance, in support of local sales growth plans.
Assume overall territory ownership, along with VWR general sales reps and management team by attending regional meetings, strategy sessions, key account blitzes and QBRs (quarterly business reviews).
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
BS degree in a science area, or equivalent work experience required
Advanced degree – MBA/ Masters program a plus
Minimum 4-5+ years of industry/lab experience required
Consistent record of exceeding IOP (sales forecast) on VWR Life Science product portfolio (emphasis on VWR bio Marke) or other applicable portfolio.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Is a VWR BioMarke Program Advocate/leader – both internally and externally, driving sales and marketing programs as defined by category management
Consistent overall performer with high ranking within the PMP process
Exhibits technical proficiency of 4 workflows (Genomics/ Proteomics/Cellular Science/Microbiology) and applies sales process to existing territory
Must be a proactive individual, as well as, have solid communication, organizational, time-management, and PC skills that will assist in driving the Life Science messaging across the company
Be a self-starter that is quickly motivated, effectively implements programs, recognizes opportunities, communicates ideas, and acts with little direction in a fluid and matrixed environment
Overnight travel is required
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Typically works in a home office environment with extensive regional travel to customer locations.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
