Turkey Hill Dairy history

In 1947, Glenn, Emerson, and Charles Frey bought their father's business.

The company began making and home delivering ice cream in 1954.

Turkey Hill followed suit, opening their first convenience store in 1967.

In a 1974 report, the plateau at the top of Turkey Hill was said to be one of the most developable area in Bloomsburg.

Turkey Hill was entered into the Geographic Names Information System on August 2, 1979.

In 1980, the Frey brothers took the biggest step in the life of the dairy by expanding its ice cream production.

The brothers sold the company to Kroger in 1985 but were still very involved.

Quintin Frey became president in 1991.

Founded in 2001 by the Issa Family, United Kingdom-based EG Group is a leading petrol forecourt retail convenience operator which has established partnerships with global brands.

Turkey Hill Experience, which opened in June 2011, is an attraction in Columbia, Pennsylvania, where people can learn about the history of Turkey Hill Dairy and how ice cream and iced tea are manufactured.

For example, Charles Frey was a long-time board member at Lancaster Bible College and donated money towards the building of the Charles Frey Academic Center, which opened in 2016.

Then in June 2017, Amazon announced they were buying Whole Foods, meaning Turkey Hill would have to compete with Amazon.

Zuber Issa and Mohsin Issa, Founders and co- CEOs, EG Group, were jointly named the 2018 EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the UK.

In 2019 EG America established its new national headquarters in Westborough, MA. The company has now grown to 1,600+ stores with locations across the United States.
