* Capture best practices and operational knowledge for self-perform work.
* Engage with SPO teams to increase understanding of new technologies and potential value to ongoing projects.
* Develop solid understanding of emerging technologies (e.g., IoT, AI, machine learning, robotics).
* Leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve internal workflows and support SPO initiatives.

* Managing the project budget.

* Negotiating Change Orders. Managing information on changes in the Work; preparing an independent analysis, as require; obtaining and checking estimates for the changes from subcontractor; obtaining approval of the Architect and Owner; and resolving any conflicts.
* Overseeing the close-out process. Preparing final records for the project such as Requests for Information (RFI's), close-out records, warranties, as-builts, Operations and Maintenance manuals (O&Ms), attic stock, and spare parts, and evaluating information to insure compliance with contract documents.
* Supervising Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks and Interns, including providing input on performance appraisals.
* Preparing Scope of Work documents for trades.
* Developing reports such as General Conditions Items, labor, safety, Change Order logs and Quality Control.
* Scheduling and managing subcontractor trade coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings and submittal review meetings.

You'll work directly with design partners to diagnose, design, build, and deliver production-ready applications and integrations. Decarbonization Engineer

Full-Time, Permanent in any state or province where Graymont operates Graymont is seeking a Decarbonization Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing the company's decarbonization technology initiatives, with a strong emphasis on process innovation, technology development, and retrofitting. Reporting to the Director, Decarbonization Engineering, the successful individual will support the development and operation of pilot plants, the execution of pre-commercial feasibility projects, and the creation and enhancement of process simulation and optimization tools.
The Decarbonization Engineer will collaborate closely with the Process Engineering, HSE (permits, regulations, and emissions compliance), and Products/Sales teams, gaining a solid understanding of Graymont's core business operations. This position will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring product quality, operational excellence, environmental compliance, and alignment with best practices across all processes.
Responsibilities
Process Development, Optimization & Technical Support
* Participate in the execution of decarbonization projects (feasibility studies, due diligence studies, technology surveys, support to funding proposals)
* Identify, troubleshoot and resolve process issues in lime, limestone, and LCCS manufacturing, handling and shipping processes and decarbonization of the same.
* Support equipment selection, layout design, piloting, validation, and commissioning activities.
* Conduct heat and mass balances and develop advanced test campaigns and instrument selection.
* Conduct process simulation and optimization for Graymont's new and existing technologies.
* Develop and monitor KPIs and audit protocols.
* Collaborate with plant personnel, contractors, and technical teams to implement innovative solutions.
Project & Innovation Support
* Develop and present technical scope of work and assist in permitting activities.
* Document and communicate critical process modifications and best practices.
* Research technological advancements in decarbonization, lime, cement, and related industries and identify technological solutions to support Graymont's decarbonization path to net zero.
Safety & Leadership
* Champion safety as a core value across all functions.
* Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
* Facilitate cultural and technical change aligned with continuous improvement initiatives.
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
* Work with plant and HSE teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
* Understand combustion practices and emissions limits and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
* Education: Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering, or a related field. Ph.D. and Bachelor's degrees will also be considered.
* Professional Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience is preferred. Backgrounds in the lime, cement, chemical, oil and gas, or other heavy industrial sectors will be considered. Experience in governmental agencies related to decarbonization technologies or engineering is also considered an asset.
* Technical Requirements:
o Knowledge of decarbonization processes and flue gas treatment techniques.
o Strong understanding of chemical and separation processes, process control systems, and instrumentation.
o Proficient in heat and mass balance calculations and advanced Excel use.
o Experience with process modeling tools (e.g., Aspen suite).
* Relevant Experience: Project management and plant commissioning experience preferred.
* Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel regularly throughout the U.S. and Canada (up to 50%).
* Language Skills: English fluency required; proficiency in French or Spanish considered an asset.
