Resource Special Education Teacher Key Responsibilities:
Supports student engagement and learning through development of lesson plans, implementation of accommodations, visual supports, and consulting with general education teacher as needed.
Administer, transfer, and interpret educational assessment data for supporting educational decision making and goal development
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
Adapt the curriculum with individual plans and instructional materials to the needs of each student according to their IEP.
Maintains documentation on IEP goals, student academic and social growth, and prepares progress reports.
Maintain a program inventory of materials and supplies.
Promotes inclusion opportunities for students and collaborates with general education teachers as appropriate to student needs.
Maintain accurate and compliant paperwork for IEP caseload including quarterly progress reports.
Support and implement use of assistive technology including, but not limited to augmentative communication devices.
Resource Special Education Teacher Qualifications:

You'll be actively supervising students as you help them catch up from learning gaps developed over the past school year.
You must be comfortable passing an IN-PERSON background check.

JOB DUTIES:

General Description:
Under the direction of the classroom lead teacher and assistant director, the associate teacher assists with and oversees the daily operations and teaches an assigned group of children using developmentally appropriate practices in the preschool or infant/toddler program that includes an environment that fosters active exploration; encourages independent choices and active problem solving along with sharing experiences with others; successfully integrates and individualizes care and curriculum for all children regardless of abilities; and maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment.Essential Functions:
* Acts as a part of a teaching team that assists with teaching and supervising a group of children that include planning and providing an appropriate classroom environment; in addition, provide activities and experiences for all areas of children's development
* Oversees classroom operations and staffing in the absence of the lead teacher
* Assists with warmly greeting each parent upon arrival and departure and consistently communicate with parents
* Assists with administering assessments and screenings; conduct on-going observation and assessment of assigned children's growth and development and record results
* Maintains required records and develop portfolios for assigned children to document developmental growth
* Contributes in planning and preparation of lesson plans based on child observations, Individual Education Plan (IEP), Family Service Education Plan (FSEP) goals, and assessment results
* Under the guidance of the lead teacher and instruction of the Family Service Education Coordinator and/or health consultants, implements intervention practices based on individualized goals; works collaboratively with speech and language pathologists, psychologists, medical professionals, and other support persons
* Supports the full integration of children with special needs into the classroom; assists with planning and providing daily experiences, activities, and routines that achieve the goals of the IEP/FSEP, and/or individual intervention plans
* Adapts curriculum and prepares specialized materials to meet the needs of children with disabilities
* Works collaboratively with lab instructors and provides modeling and support for college lab students training in the classroom
* Assists with scheduling and conducts parent/teacher conferences; develops goals for the child's growth with the parent
* Participates in staff meetings and training activities, case conferences, parent conferences, center meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as directed
* Provides training and guidance for classroom volunteers
* Prepares snacks and follows food program guidelines; participates in family style meal service; prepares and sets up tables, guides children in cleanup activities following meals and snacks, washes and sanitizes dishes according to center procedure
* Carries out authorized emergency and safety procedures and administers first aid
* Reports suspected cases of child abuse and neglect in accordance with Title V regulations and policy
* Performs housekeeping duties such as sweeping, laundry, windows, etc.
* Assists with special projects, such as open houses, parent meetings, fundraisers, etc., during or after normal work schedule
* Complies with Child Development Center (CDC) policies and procedures, administrative regulations, State of California Health and Welfare Codes, and Child Development Division Title V regulations
* Performs other related duties as required
Knowledge of:
* Principles and practices of Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Ability to:
* Speak, read and write English clearly
* Prepare and maintain accurate records using proper spelling and accurate calculations
* Stand, walk, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, stoop, twist, push, pull and move, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
* Stand on feet for long periods of time; sit on floor or child-sized chair

Required:
* 24 units of ECE/CD plus 16 units of GE AND
* 2 adult supervision units and 3 units in Infant and Toddler Development within first year of employment AND
* Must possess or be eligible for a Teacher Permit
* Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
License or Certificate:
* Certificate of TB Clearance OR negative TB Skin Test AND
* Proof of Immunizations - Influenza (between August 1 and December 1 OR written statement declining the influenza vaccine), Pertussis, and Measles
Conditional Employment: If a person meets all other requirements for employment, but needs additional time to obtain and provide his or her immunization records, the person may be employed conditionally for a maximum of 30 days upon signing and submitting a written statement attesting that he or she has been immunized as required.
DESIRED QUALFICATIONS:
* Associate's degree (AA/AS) in ECE/CD (or closely related field) OR
* AA/AS in any field plus 24 units of ECE/CD AND
