POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:
Under minimum supervision, provides academic tutoring to support student success
POSITION DUTIES:
* Provides individual and group academic tutoring to students;
* Assists students with study skill;
* Responsible for completing and maintaining accurate documentation relating to tutoring; documentation must be completed within required time period; and
* May perform other like duties.

* Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester;

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides support to the education component at Head Start, Inc. To ensure high quality, individualized early childhood education by assisting Teachers in the classroom. This position participates in service strategies that contribute to the welfare of Head Start, Inc. And the families served while being mindful of the responsibility to maintain confidentiality, be supportive and provide a child friendly atmosphere. CLASSROOM
Assist teachers with preparation of classroom curriculum before and after class.

Head Start, Inc. uses the strategy of Active Supervision to ensure that no child is left unattended while in the care of Head Start, Inc. Incidents of children left unsupervised must be immediately reported to the Executive Director.
All Head Start, Inc. employees are responsible for the safety of children in our program. Active Supervision requires focused attention and intentional observation of children at all times. All employees who care for children position themselves in classrooms, on playgrounds, in hallways, on buses, on field trips and in any space where children are present so that they can observe all children: watching, counting, and listening at all times. The KinderSprouts program is designed to assist four-year (4) olds in developing early literacy skills through instruction and play. It is shown early literacy programs can improve kindergarten readiness. This position will be scheduled to work eight (8) hours per school day (8:00 am to 4:00 pm). Prior successful experience working with and around preschool age children is desired. At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a General Education/Kinder Sprouts Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting students individually and in small groups.
Some of what you will do:
Assists with individual and small group pupil instruction and play; tutors pupils at teachers' request.
Assists in maintaining discipline and other functions.
Assist with attendance and related clerical matters.
May assist with hygiene of students.
May escort students to and from various rooms.
To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
A High School diploma or equivalent may be considered with a committment to completing the District's Title I recognized training.
At least three (3) months of related experience and/or training;
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.
Essential functions of the position include the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Current entry level salary range is $15.10-$18.63 per hour depending on education level and applicable relevant school-related experience as determined by the district. This position includes a comprehensive benefit package.

Shares, with other teachers and aides, lunchroom duties and responsibility for monitoring halls and recess periods.
Counsels students when academic difficulties or behavioral problems arise.
Keeps records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation. Reports on all aspects of student development for school records and parents; conducts parent-teacher conferences on both a regularly scheduled and as-need basis.
Consults with other professionals where there appears to be evidence of learning abilities or problems of social adjustment. Coordinates decisions with parents concerning specialized interventions that appear warranted. Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law.
Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars and workshops.
Consults with Academic Support Specialist for all specialized intervention concerns or programs.
Guards school buildings, grounds, and property against theft, vandalism, trespassing, and all illicit acts during the shift and during sports events and other activities.
Examines doors, windows, and gates to assure they are secure.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly responsible for any student and teacher aide under the teacher's care.
