The CertifiedNursingAssistant will be certified to manage the patient flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of their patients in a family practice environment. This is a part-time, .4 FTE, role working two days a week, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM out of our Chaska & Watertown locations.
Catalyst Medical Clinic is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions:
* Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit.
* Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's chart.
* Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
* Performs in-house testing including UA, Hemoglobin, 1 hour glucose, 3 hour glucose and ICT stool samples.
* Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms as needed.
* Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or nurse practitioner.
* Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment.
* Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
* Any and all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
* High School graduate or equivalent required
* Successful completion of the state of MN administered NursingAssistantcertification exam OR active registry as a NursingAssistant in the state of MN
* Phlebotomy certified or willing to obtain phlebotomy certification after hire

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
Implements physicians orders to provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation.
Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings and securing of drainage systems.
Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient's age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's scope of service.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN standards for RN first assistant education program or RNFA education equivalency for CRNFA
EXPERIENCE
Two years' registered nurse experience in an advanced surgical specialty

The department currently consists of 3 physicians and 6 APs. Physician Assistant must have post educational experience as a practicing PA in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital's robotic surgery capabilities are unmatched in the region, positioning us as one of only a handful of centers nationwide with the ability to offer robotic cardiac as well as thoracic surgery. We perform the whole gamut of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery including CABG, Valve surgery, Aortic aneurysms and dissections, pulmonary resections and decortications. We do not perform ventricular assist devices.
As the ideal candidate, you would have surgical first assist experience and a strong attraction to the operating room. Must be able to function and thrive within a high-functioning team. The new providers responsibilities will include assisting in the operating room (including endoscopic and open vein and radial artery harvesting); patient care on the Cardiothoracic Surgery in-patient unit; night call on weeknights and weekends (anticipated 1 in 6 for each) for floor patients and for the operating room; and rare outpatient clinic care. For weekends, rounds and then call from home for OR. There are full time intensivists for patient care. The floor patients are managed by physician assistants and call is from home over the phone.
