Twin Cities Stores company history timeline

1994

1994 Byerly’s Chanhassen opens.

1996

1996 Byerly’s Eagan opens.

1997

1997 Lunds acquires Byerly’s and integrates the two formats under one company umbrella called Lund Food Holdings, Inc.

2000

In 2000 reflecting the company’s focus on the Target discount store model, Dayton Hudson changed its name to Target Corporation.

2004

In 2004, Target sold the Marshall Field’s department store chain to the May Department Stores Company and the following year, May was acquired by Federated Department Stores, Inc. which operated Macy’s.

2009

In December 2009, a pipe burst and flooded the basement and part of the first floor, destroying a lot of merchandise.

2012

2012 Downtown Minneapolis Avenue in downtown Minneapolis opens.

2013

2013 Lund Food Holdings acquires Village Market in Prior Lake and renames it Prior Lake.

2014

2014 Lunds & Byerlys Kitchen opens in downtown Wayzata.

2017

The very first Dayton’s store located at 7th and Nicollet remained open under various names for 115 years until 2017.

2020

The project is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2020.
