JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits. Hours will be during weekends, midshift (11am to 11pm).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment, and prepares imaging related materials, as required; cleans and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
* Screen participants & research personnel for MRI appropriateness and review any contraindications for exams including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects, which would prohibit or modify the MRI exam.
* Prepares participants for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures as appropriate to requirements; explains procedures to participants and positions them as appropriate to prescribed procedure; assists participants at the end of procedure.
* Independently executes prescribed MRI protocol; determines appropriate calibrations and/or techniques, arranges immobilization and/or support devices.
* Discusses incidental findings with the lead MRI technologist or physicist as applicable.
* If modification of a MRI protocol is necessary consult with researchers to determine appropriate sequences, parameters, etc.
* Performs general office duties such as assisting in the delivery of MRI data to servers, or investigators, recording of scan times for billing purposes, typing forms
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Various activities include sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching,

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Performs prepping functions which include the following tasks:
* Removes all staples, paper clips, rubber bands and other holding devices and tapes down/repair documents as necessary to ensure they can be scanned without jamming the scanner.
* Determines which documents need to be scanned based on specific project requirements, distinguishes which documents are auto-fed and which need to be manually scanned.
* Uses basic knowledge of record documentation deficiency requirements for each specific project to categorize each document and sort into the appropriate documents type; evaluates documentation content to categorize documents.
* Uses basic knowledge of document types to ensure documents of the same document type are kept together and utilize appropriate document type barcoded separator sheets and/or file separator sheets.
* Prepares the batch for scanning, ensures the record contains a correctly marked batch cover sheet and the appropriate trigger documents.
* Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality of all records.
* Performs the scanning of documents into imaging capture application to include:
* Maintains appropriate set up for the scanner based on the specific project to ensure optimal image results.
* Operate, maintain and troubleshoot high speed scanners to ensure proper document scanning. Cleans the scanner daily at the beginning of the shift, after breaks and lunch or as needed to ensure optimal image results.
* Performs a check of the documents to be scanned to ensure that all paper clips, stapes and rubber bands are removed.
* Creates the appropriate batch for scanning and scans each batch, ensuring that documents are scanned correctly and moved to the correct queue and initiating image workflow.
* Prioritizes daily work flow and keeps supervisor informed of any anticipated backlog and exceptions to procedures and serves as back-up to team members.
* Completes and submits personal productivity data in a timely and accurate manner. Monitors personal productivity level to ensure it is within minimum productivity standards for prepping within 6 months and scanning within 3 months of date of employment in position while maintaining accuracy.

The Mammography Technologist operates x-ray equipment and performs a variety of mammography-related diagnostic procedures. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique. Here is what you will need:
Completion of a formal radiologic technology training program and hold current certification by ARRT in Radiography;
ARRT advanced level certification in mammography with documentation of clinical experience, or MQSA qualified and (M) registry eligible;
Current on all required continuing education and continuing experience as required by MQSA and ARRT;
High School Diploma; Associates degree preferred;
Must possess non-restricted licensure in state work location;
Knowledge of database software, RIS/PACS software is preferred;
Two years of experience in mammography is preferred;
Experience with diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound core and stereotactic biopsies is preferred;
Prior quality control experience preferred;
Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology;
