Two of the biggest deals in the company's history were completed in 1981, when McKinney completed the purchase of Hall-Mark Electronics, a distributor of electronic components, and Reliance Universal, a specialty chemical coatings maker.
The only negative aspect of the 1981 acquisitions was the timing.
