Assistant Engineer - Civil (Level I) is the trainee level class in the professional civil engineering series. Position Summary:
Serves as a primary source for technical level engineering on private development plan review including but not limited to, design of water, wastewater, and drainage utilities. This position reviews both capital and private development projects for conformance with adopted codes and statutes.
Essential Duties:
* Reviews, processes, and approves private development engineering plans, reports, model outputs, and any other information related to City owned utilities to ensure compliance with applicable City, county, state, and federal codes and guidelines; researches and identifies the availability of water and sewer service utilizing the digital Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping system, as-built plans, and field data.

Position Summary:
Serves as a primary source for technical level engineering on private development plan review including but not limited to, design of water, wastewater, and drainage utilities. This position reviews both capital and private development projects for conformance with adopted codes and statutes.
Essential Duties:
Reviews, processes, and approves private development engineering plans, reports, model outputs, and any other information related to City owned utilities to ensure compliance with applicable City, county, state, and federal codes and guidelines; researches and identifies the availability of water and sewer service utilizing the digital Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping system, as-built plans, and field data.
Coordinates with other departments to ensure that planning and reviewing of functions are effectively integrated into the projects, meet processing deadlines, and do not conflict with existing or planned utilities.
Reviews and comments on lot split, re-plat, revision of plat, preliminary plat, and final plat projects. · Represents the Public Works Department at pre-application conference (PAC) meetings; participates in the PAC review including modeling.

This is an exempt position under the direction of the Director of Stormwater. The Civil Engineer-Drainage is responsible for the planning, design and construction management of drainage facilities within the City and for providing engineering and technical support related to the operation and maintenance of City stormwater infrastructure. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read program and policy manuals, blueprints, construction drawings, financial statements, City code, contracts, and prepared reports on assigned projects. Requires the ability to prepare drawings, specifications, plans sketches, contracts, estimates, correspondence, reports, and project management documentation using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style. Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, such as office equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under high levels of stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress (emergency situations).
