Role Overview:
The Public Health Nurse Consultant functions as the subject matter expert in primary medical care within the DMHA Quality Improvement Team, specifically concentrating on private mental health institutions (PMHIs). This role entails conducting on-site assessments of hospitals that are licensed or certified by DMHA to deliver mental health and/or addiction services, with an emphasis on medical services, integration of primary healthcare, medication administration and monitoring, and inpatient care. The position demands a significant degree of independent decision-making regarding consumer care and involves leading assigned quality reviews. Candidates must possess a valid Registered Nurse license. This position is 100% remote.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
* Coordinate community health care programs which may involve working with health departments, schools, clinics, public and private childcare facilities, abused or neglected children, home health agencies and rural health care services to improve quality of services.
* Work with community physicians and health care professionals to establish improved reporting and communication between the medical provider community and the state agency staff.
* Coordinate other programs such as school health, migrant health, health promotion and disease prevention programs for children and adults.
* Work in collaboration with other health and social service providers to facilitate the delivery of health and development services.
* Review medical records and provides professional medical opinions and recommendations.

• Greet newly admitted residents upon admission. Escort them to their rooms as necessary
• Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
• Encourage attending physicians to record and sign progress notes, physicians' orders, etc., on a timely basis and in accordance with current regulations.
• Inform the Director when physician visits are not made in a timely manner.
• Consult with the resident, his/her family, and the resident's physician in planning the resident's care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., as necessary.
• Notify the resident's attending physician and next-of-kin when there is a change in the resident's condition.
• Visit residents on a daily basis in order to observe and evaluate each resident's physical and emotional status.
• Ensure that direct nursing care be provided by a licensed nurse, a certified nursing assistant, and/or a nurse aide trainee qualified to perform the procedure.
• Review nurses' notes to ensure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care being provided, that they reflect the resident's response to the care, and that such care is provided in accordance with the resident's wishes.
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
• Start IVs, obtain sputum, urine and other specimens for lab tests as ordered.
• Take TPRs, blood pressures, etc., as necessary.

This position involves providing leadership and oversight for our caregiving services in the Canton, OH area as part of the nation's largest privately owned non-skilled home health agency. Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of caregiving services

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provision of quality nursing care services to individuals to promote their health and safety.
NATURE OF WORK:
1. Renders quality nursing care services to facility individuals as directed by licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, in adherence to the Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with the facility's objectives and policies (e.g. administers medications, treatments, tube feedings; assesses resident's needs, identifies problems, plans and initiates appropriate nursing interventions). Coordinates daily nursing operations by delegating duties to direct care staff, monitoring the flow of LPN assignments as necessary, providing expertise to direct care staff when indicated; preparing and giving evaluation of direct care staff; and communicates and consults with other allied medical personnel.
2. Prepares and maintains documentation relative to individual (e.g. completes daily charting, updates the individual's Plans, ensures adherence to Standards of Nursing Practices and Governmental Regulating Agencies).
3. Gathers, summarizes, and presents the medical portion of the individual's Person Centered Plan to the interdisciplinary team at regularly scheduled meetings, reviews and reports concerns to consulting medical personnel, and serves as a liaison between physicians and other team members.
4. May prepare and present in-service training to Residential staff.
5. May assume nursing on-call duties as assigned.
6. Performs other related duties as needed and as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current licensure by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
2. Good physical stamina with the ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, stoop, position, and transfer.
3. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Driver's License and be insurable.
