1970

1970: The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Introduced

1970- Occupational Safety and Health Act- OSHA standards are developed into the American workplace.

1973

1973- ABB Robotics and KUKA Robotics introduce industrial robots.

1975

1975- Bill Gates and Paul Allen work together to develop Microsoft computer software.

1977

On August 4, 1977, President Jimmy Carter signed The Department of Energy Organization Act of 1977 which created the twelfth cabinet-level department, The Department of Energy.

1980

Maria Telkes invented the thermoelectric power generator to provide heat for Dover House, first solar-heated house In 1980 she assisted the United States Department of Energy in the development of the world's first solar-electric residence, which was built in Carlisle, Massachusetts.

The earliest 3D printing technologies first became visible in the late 1980’s, at which time they were called Rapid Prototyping (RP) technologies.

2016

December 5, 2016 was the 225th anniversary of Alexander Hamilton's Report on the Subject of Manufactures(link is external), which he delivered to Congress in the hopes of breaking Britain’s manufacturing hold on the United States.

In 2016, AMO announced the selections of the second cohort of the Technologist in Residence (TIR) Program.

2017

In June 2017, DOE issued its first 50001 Ready recognition to Four Seasons Produce, Inc., for implementing an energy management system (EnMS) at its 266,000 square-foot fruit and vegetable refrigerated warehouse facility in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, resulting in a 2.1% improvement in energy intensity.

2018

During a supercomputing announcement in June 2018, a futuristic podium was prominently displayed in front of Secretary of Energy Rick Perry.

2019

In October 2019, the University of Maine unveiled the world’s largest 3D printer(link is external) as well as the world’s largest 3D-printed object, a 25-foot, 5,000 pound boat.

In November 2019, DOE introduced an eCatolog for Packaged Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Systems.

2020
