The Event Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, budgeting, and daily operation of all public-facing events. Typical events include, but are not limited to, single and multi-day Festivals, Whitewater Race Series events, Whitewater Film Series events, River Jam concerts, Yoga sessions, Adventure Dining, Winter programming, Outpost programming and all other established programming. Flatwater guides at the Whitewater Center (Whitewater) are responsible for delivering a high-quality experience through kayaking and stand-up-paddleboarding on the Catawba river. All new guides will be provided with paid training and need no prior experience. This is a seasonal position that operates from March 2026 through October 2026. Swiftwater Rescue Instructors at the Whitewater Center (Whitewater) provide Swiftwater and flood rescue training to public safety (Fire, EMA, Police) and military teams. This position is responsible for teaching a variety of classes including in-water, nighttime, and raft-based courses. Instructors must convey progressive and best-in-class techniques that enable program participants to save lives in emergency settings. Swiftwater Rescue Instructors are on-site, part-time employees that report to the Instruction team. Responsibilities Facilitate Swiftwater, flood and boat-based instruction to groups with an informative and enjoyable approach while proactively managing the inherent risks involved with water rescue. Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students to foster skill development. Engage in class planning sessions, utilize student-focused instruction techniques, and develop performance assessments. Execute all safety and operational processes involved in Swiftwater rescue instruction for up to Class IV whitewater. Practice thorough communication with the paddle sports team and aid where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operation across public-facing and instruction programs. Maintain accurate knowledge of activities, products and services offered by the Whitewater center. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Clear and professional communication skills including public speaking and demonstration. Minimum of 2 years of experience guiding or whitewater kayaking in up to class III whitewater. Prior experience teaching or facilitating classes. Prior participation in Swiftwater classes. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in the fire or rescue field. ACA Whitewater Swiftwater Instructor certification. Physical Demands Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space. Must be able to bend, lean, stand, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time. Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds. Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time and in all weather and environmental conditions. Must be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers. All positions at Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations. Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time in all weather conditions. Must be able to instruct in front of large groups for up to 8 hours a day. Must be able to perform challenging maneuvers confidently and consistently in Class II-IV whitewater. Must be able to rescue participants in Class II-IV whitewater. Job Description Summer Camp Counselors at the Whitewater Center are responsible for providing camper supervision and coordinating group processes while facilitating camp programming in a safe and enjoyable manner. Summer Camp Counselor positions require full-time availability (minimum 4 days a week) during summer weekdays corresponding with camp sessions. Camp Counselors are on-site and report to the Outdoor School Supervisor. The 2026 Summer Camp program year runs from June 1st through August 21st. Potential Counselors should be available through the end of August. Additional camp counselor opportunities are available during the school year on select teacher workdays to applicable employees. Responsibilities Create a safe, positive, energetic, and enjoyable environment for campers. Supervise campers during pass activities and facilitate games at the center. Campers have access to activities such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking. Zip lining, ropes courses, flatwater paddling, specialized instruction, field games, crafts, and more. Actively guide campers during mountain biking, flatwater paddling, and ropes courses. Assist area guides with gear-up and gear-down processes required for harnessed adventure activities. Follow all safety and operational procedures as dictated by Outdoor School Management. Assist Outdoor School Management in addressing medical and behavioral concerns by completing accurate reports. Communicate and collaborate with Outdoor School Management regarding equipment needs and ideas to improve camp programming. Demonstrate punctuality and character in completing morning duties, greeting campers, and assisting with car line. Take accurate and timely attendance and maintain supervision ratios. Keep clear lines of communication with camp leads and supervisors regarding camper locations, wellbeing, behavior, and program needs. Maintain cleanliness of camp facilities and all guest facing areas and assist campers with locating belongings. Actively assist with dismissal processes. Attend all staff meetings and in-service programs. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Must be 17 years of age or older. Attendance at a training session is mandatory. Completion of training, along with demonstrated competency in the required skills, will be considered probationary until confirmed by Outdoor School Management. Previous experience working with youth in a camp or school environment. Highly motivated, energetic, and fun with an outgoing personality. Exhibits an honest and sincere passion for working with kids. Ability to work independently with a group of 10 or more campers.
