U.S. Silica is a producer of high-quality unground silica, ground and fine ground silica, calcined kaolin clay and aplite. It's a visionary company, with a history dating back more than 100 years -- making us one of the oldest in the industry. Henry Harrison Hunter first discovered the Oriskany sandstone deposit just north of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, where he mined and processed his first sample by hand. Hunter entered a sample of this silica sand in the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, and was awarded a blue ribbon and the medal of excellence. Since 1893, U.S. Silica has acquired many properties, developed more than 200 unique products, and created a network of production plants and packaging facilities across the country -- making procurement of the silica, ground and fine ground silica and other industrial minerals you need convenient and reliable. U.S. Silica is built on a foundation of stability, with the keys to our longevity rooted in our ability to collaborate with our customers to find new and innovative ways to use our products, while maintaining our dedication to health, safety, quality and integrity in the workplace and the environment.
