U.S. Sugar history

Sugarcane production increased, the company grew, and by 1941, United States Sugar was profitable.The key to the continued growth of the company was the Clewiston Sugar House.

In 1942, the Department of Justice began a major investigation into the recruiting practices of one of the largest sugar producers in the nation, the United States Sugar Corporation, a South Florida company.

When the Bryant Sugar House opened in 1962, it was the most modern mill in the world.

In January 1994, Southern Gardens Citrus began operations.

Ultimately, the plant would be able to process over 30 million boxes of fruit and produce 180 million gallons of juice annually.In October 1998, United States Sugar opened a new sugarcane refinery that could initially produce 540,000 tons per year.
