UC Health company history timeline

1997

1997: Cardiovascular Research Center opens.

1999

1999: Vontz Center for Molecular Studies opens.

2003

2003: The Genome Research Institute opens.

2004

In 2004, in anticipation of the opening of Medical Center of the Rockies under the Poudre Valley Health System umbrella, Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation was established.

2006

2006: UC Medical Center adopts the name “Academic Health Center” to better reflect its scope of services.

2007

Three other UC schools (Davis, San Diego and San Francisco) admitted their first classes in fall 2007.

2008

2008: The CARE/Crawley Building opens.

In 2008, UCLA launched its PRIME program, in coordination with its longstanding partners UC Riverside and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.

2010

2010: UC Health officially launches; College of Medicine embarks on a curriculum revision effort.

2011

In 2011, a sixth PRIME program opened at UC Merced in partnership with UC Davis and UC San Francisco that focuses on the health needs of the San Joaquin Valley. (See: UC program aims to increase number of health care professionals in Central Valley.)

2012

In 2012, Poudre Valley Health System entered into a partnership with University of Colorado Hospital, combining community-based care with academic medicine to create UCHealth.

2019

UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation was established in 2019, building on a decades-long legacy of philanthropic support for our world-class hospitals in the region.
