Minimum Job Requirements: Associate's degree in clinical laboratory science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification by American Clinical Pathology (ASCP) 1 year of clinical experience Job Responsibilities: Performs technical laboratory analysis in the areas of chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology (blood bank and transfusion medicine). Performs work accurately and thoroughly by being meticulous. Ensures the distribution of associated test information and results in a manner consistent with department standards, regulatory standards, and turnaround time criteria. Ensures the proper functioning of laboratory instrumentation by performing required controls, maintenance, documentation, and troubleshooting procedures. Evaluates specimen quality for testing as deemed appropriate per test method. Demonstrates ability to use the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). Contributes to effective customer relations by assisting patients, visitors, physicians to resolve expressed concerns and by demonstrating a welcoming and helpful attitude. Uses clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgement in accordance with professional and department standards and protocols. Demonstrates personal competency by successful performance of proficiency surveys and department competencies as assigned. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal, and The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations related to the Laboratory Department and facility. Attends all mandatory meetings and is familiar with Laboratory Compliance and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Lab Supervisor, Third Shift, Core Lab Department UC Health is hiring a full-time Lab Supervisor for the core lab department for a third shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Under the guidance of the Lab Manager/Lab Director, the Lab Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Technical Associates (TAs), and Medical Technologists (I,II,III) with regards to scheduling, PTO requests, timecards, corrective action and performance review. The Lab Supervisor provides technical expertise supporting specimen receiving, specimen testing, and results reporting in the laboratory and oversees supplies for each department, by setting par levels and orderings. The Lab Supervisor also serves as the primary contact for new hires as they are onboarded into the department. Recommends and implements changes to work processes in coordination with technical staff. * Assists Lab Administration with CAP regulations, including but not limited to, policy/procedure review and compliance, adherence to employee safety regulations and employee file maintenance. * Participates in interviews and provides recommendations of hiring of associates. * Conducts on-going assessment of TA, and medical technologist performance. * Assists/conducts on-going assessments, annual performance evaluations and corrective action as indicated. * Provides management support of Lab department by overseeing PTO requests, scheduling, time/attendance reporting, timecards, and inventory monitoring.
