Ensure the proper disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with safety protocols. Imaging and Diagnostic Procedures: Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras, positron emission tomography (PET) scanners, and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scanners. Perform diagnostic imaging tests to capture detailed images of organs, tissues, and bones for the detection of diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular issues, and neurological disorders. Maintain accurate patient records, including patient history, test results, and imaging reports, in compliance with hospital or facility protocols. Equipment Maintenance and Safety: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of nuclear medicine imaging equipment, ensuring proper function and safety. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to imaging equipment or radiopharmaceuticals. Ensure that all equipment and facilities meet safety standards, particularly in handling radioactive materials, to minimize risk to both patients and staff. Follow infection control and radiation safety protocols to protect both patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure. Radiation Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines regarding the use of radioactive substances, ensuring patient and staff safety at all times. Monitor and manage radiation exposure to patients, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Radiation Safety Office (RSO). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and best practices in radiation protection. Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the proper execution of imaging procedures. Communicate effectively with the medical team to discuss patient conditions and help interpret diagnostic images. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, discuss treatment plans, and provide input based on imaging results. Patient Care and Follow-up: Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients, including guidance on hydration or any side effects related to the radiopharmaceutical.
