UCHealth company history timeline
The school was founded in Boulder and moved in 1924 to Colorado Boulevard and Ninth Avenue in Denver.
Glaser profited from a national era of optimism in 1950’s America.
“There was money available from the National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies,” said medical historian Bob Shikes. “Things started to boom in academic medicine in the 1950’s.”
UC College of Medicine faculty member Albert Sabin, MD, develops the first oral polio vaccine, which will be administered to over 20,000 people on April 24, 1960.
In 1976, Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation was incorporated to support and promote activities serving Fort Collins’ community hospital.
In 2004, in anticipation of the opening of Medical Center of the Rockies under the Poudre Valley Health System umbrella, Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation was established.
In 2008, the school transformed itself again with a move to the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
