Job Summary: The Paralegal will report directly to Counsel with dotted line responsibilities to the President and CEO. Responsibilities include assisting with litigation, government inquiries, subpoenas, audits, exams, or 3rd party risk reviews. The Paralegal will also be responsible for investigating facts, researching laws, regulations, preparing and maintaining legal documents within the Company's business system. At times, the Paralegal will also assist the Executives with miscellaneous assignments.
Principle Responsibilities:
Support 3rd Party Risk management and due diligence reviews of Merchants, Vendors, Sellers or Buyers.
Establish and ensure strong processes and procedures for legal matter management, documentation, risk assessments and scoring of 3rd parties.
Maintain policies as required by the company risk framework.
Disseminate, update, and report on legal holds and open matters. Coordinate with Information Technology, Accounting, or Operations teams on any legal hold implemented.
Responsible for managing litigation discovery requirements, including document identification, retrieval, production, and calendaring of deadlines.
Oversee registered agent activities and relationships in multiple jurisdictions for Universal Account Servicing and affiliate entities.
Stay informed on in-house legal department best practices and ensure the company is utilizing technology to improve compliance and reduce legal expenses.
Assist compliance personnel with periodic risk assessments and testing of company departments and business lines.
Work with Counsel on legal department management and ownership reporting.
Oversee legal and compliance department operations, including equipment, technology, and workflow management.
Assist with the development and maintenance of department standard operating procedures (SOP's), documents, and templates. Maintain legal department research subscriptions and research tools.
Perform miscellaneous administrative functions for Counsel, including expense reports, travel arrangements, meeting coordination and scheduling, bar licensing and continuing education requirements.
Requirements:

Training and Education:
· Bachelor's Degree in business administration, criminal justice, accounting/finance, paralegal studies or related field
· Understanding of risk governing frameworks, 3rd-Party risk or merchant fraud prevention, and/or payment risk management.
· Complete all required training as assigned.

Position Summary

Complete all required compliance training and complies with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act as well as all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of mortgage lending disclosures and the Encompass System is required.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Two to three years related experience and/or training required. Four to five years related experience and/or training preferred.
Basic knowledge of loan processing procedures and loan documentation for real estate, and underwriting guidelines for conventional and government loans.
